Chapter 8 ~ Valentines Day

Thursday night, February 13th. 

  Last month went by fairly quickly. Hermione spent her nights usually with Severus or Draco now. She would make some excuse about the library. And it worked every time, the others were more worried about an upcoming quidditch game. Tonight was no different, she sat in the library when Draco walked in and sat by her, "I think I did it." Hermione looks at him shocked, "Y-your task?"

"Maybe...."

"How?"

"I overheard Slughorn talking about getting a gift for Dumbledore. A bottle of some fancy mead."

"Ok..."

"I put poison in it."

"How did you do that?"

"I'd rather not talk about it, I'm not proud of how I did it, let's just say that.."

Hermione nodded then sighed sadly, "I understand. I hope it works."

"Me too, I don't want to be face to face with him when it happens."

"Good idea..."

Hermione smiles at Draco trying to change the subject, "So, what are you doing tomorrow night?"

"Nothing... why?"

"What do you mean why?"

"You know I just sit in my room and read on Friday nights."

"Draco... tomorrow is Valentines Day."

"Oh..... yeah, same answer."

"Really? What about Pans-"

"Ew."

Hermione bursts out laughing, "I thought she was your girlfriend."

"No...."

"Oh.... well.... I know someone who you could ask out..."

"Oh no... are you trying to play match maker?"

"No! You already know her... and according to rumors she really likes you...."

"Reeeeally?"

"Astoria."

Draco looks at her shocked, "Really? Astoria likes me?"

Hermione shrugged and laughed before walking out the door, "Good night Draco."

The next morning Hermione walks into the great hall and sits next to her friends who are all looking at the Slytherin table shocked, Hermione looks over and sees Draco and Astoria holding hands and talking, "Aww." Her friends all look at her surprised. Hermione grabs some eggs before asking, "What?"

"Did you just aww, Malfoy and his new girlfriend?", asked Ron disgusted.

"Yeah?"

"Ew, Astoria should run."

"Ron, it's Valentines day leave them alone and worry about what you're doing with Lavender tonight."

Harry and Ron stare at Hermione shocked before looking at each other, Ginny then laughs, "Oh my god, you two forgot!"

"Shut up! What do I do?! I didn't get anything for Lavender.", Ron asked worried.

"I don't know... Make her a plate of food before she gets here?"

"You are no help Ginny.... 'Mione, you're the smart one."

Hermione looks up after popping a grape into her mouth and giggles, "You could propose."

Ginny and Hermione started laughing. Ron looks at Harry who is also chuckling then turns back to Hermione, "Don't joke like that!".

"Oh calm down, it was a joke. I don't know, what are her interest?"
