My Double Agent

Chapter 40 - One Year Later

June 30, 1999, Hermione stood on Harry and Ginny's doorstep excitedly and looks up at Severus, "You sure everyone else is here?"

"Yes, don't worry." Severus kisses her cheek and then looks down to their baby daughter and caresses her cheek, "They'll lover her."

The door opens and Ginny greets them, "Hermione, Severus! Come in! Is this her?! She's beautiful..." Hermione and Severus follow Ginny into the living room where Harry, Draco, Astoria, Narcissa, Bill, Fleur, George, Luna, and Neville were all waiting. All of them smile and and stand up as they walked in. Hermione stood in the middle of everyone, "Everyone, I'd like you to meet Lily Eloise Snape." 

Harry shed a tear, "Lily? You named her after my mom?"

"And my best friend.", Severus replied. Harry couldn't help bug hug Severus.

Hermione smiles and looked at Astoria who walked over, "Looks like I'll have a flower girl for my wedding next year!" Hermione and Astoria share a laugh and they turned and looked at a pregnant Luna. Luna walks over and smiles, "Congratulations Hermione, Lily is beautiful."

Molly and Arthur Wesley walked in. Molly puts down a pie, "Sorry we're late. Where is my grandbaby?"

After everything had happened Molly had adopted Hermione into her family. Hermione walked over with Lily and Molly started crying, "Oh look at that angel. She is beautiful." Molly hugged Hermione as she looked at Lily. Arthur and George walked over to Severus, Draco, Neville, and Harry and smile. They all grabbed a drink and Draco clears his throat. Everyone turns and looks at Draco, "I would like to make a toast, to the new parents. Congratulations and may you have a long, healthy, life with Lily."

"Cheers!", everyone responds. The rest of the evening was spent with gift, pie, and family. Once it was 7 at night Hermione stood up, "This was so much fun, but we have to get home and put Lily to bed."

"Of course. Everyone, from now on, every Sunday, we are all doing a family dinner at my house. That goes for everyone here.", Molly says and she smiles towards Draco and his mother. They smile and nod back. Hermione hands Lily to Severus and hugs Molly, "Thank you mom." Milly almost started crying as she smiled at her. 

After they say their goodbyes, they start walking home, which wasn't far off. Severus smiled at his wife and daughter. He felt like the luckiest man in the entire world. Once home, Hermione put Lily straight to bed. She got into her pajamas and laid down in bed next to Severus. She lays her head on his chest. Severus caressed her hair, he never thought he would have this life. Being a father, a husband. He kissed the top of Hermione's head and she looked up at him, "You ok?"

"I just- can't believe my luck. I have the most beautiful and smartest wife in the entire world. And now, I have a beautiful daughter as well." Suddenly Crookshanks jumps up in the bed and meows as he laid by their thighs. Severus chuckles, "And the bravest cat in the world."

Hermione giggles and kisses him, "I got the best man in the world as my husband. Selfless, loving, smart... what more could I have asked for."

"I don't want it to go by too fast, but I can't wait to grow old with you."

Hermione kisses him again, "Me too."

They lay down together as Severus pulls out a book, "Shall I read tonight?"

Hermione nods and listens to his words as he read. She couldn't help but smile at his earlier words. She also felt lucky to have the life she had. Ture, things started off rough, but no they could truly relax. Severus was still the potions Professor. But he loved it. Hermione was currently trying to decide what she wanted to do with her life. But she just couldn't decide. She knew sooner or later she would decide, for now she was happy being a stay at home mom for Lily.

Hermione closed her eyes as she cuddled into his chest more and soon fell asleep. Severus kissed her forehead and put the book down once her realized she was sleep. He reached down and pet Crookshanks, who purred. He slowly got out of bed and turned the lights off, he then walked over to Lily's bassinet and smiled down at her. He knelt down by the bassinet and whispered, "I promise to be an amazing father to you and a loving husband to your mom. I promise to protect you, love you, never judge you, accept whatever house you get into.." He chuckled quietly, "I will be here for you no matter what." He stands up and kisses her on top of her head. He then looks over at Hermione as she sleeps. 

"Always."
