My Double Agent

Chapter 4 ~ Slughorn's Party

  It was Friday, December 20th. Hermione was sitting at her vanity table putting her hair up into a bun with small curls falling off the sides. She grabs the long-sleeved red dress off of her bed and slipped it on. She then picks up a box that contained a diamond necklace in it with a card. 

'Please wear it tonight. ~S' 

Hermione smiled as she put it on and hides the note, it was a beautiful necklace. She put on some silver heels and grabbed her matching hand bagged. She nodded to herself in the mirror, happy with the end results.

 Hermione starts to walk out of the Gryffindor common room, when she bumps into someone outside. She turns around to see Severus looking at her with deep concentration. Hermione looks at him and blushes, "I'm so sorry!"

"For what? You didn't know I was standing here."

"Why are you standing here?"

"Waiting for you... and Potter. Is he in?"

"No, he left a while ago to go get Luna, his date tonight. They are probably already at the party"

"And where is your date?"

"Don't have one."

Severus looks at her shocked, "No one asked you?"

"No, I was asked..." she looks up at him and smiles, "But I told them no."

Severus smiles down at her, admiring how beautiful she looked, then he noticed the necklace, "You- you wore it."

"Of course, you asked me to. It's beautiful."

"It was my mothers."

Hermione looks at his sad eyes as he mentioned his mother. She walked up to him and grabbed his arm making him look down at her. She smiles at him, "I am very honored that you trust me with such an heirloom." Hermione starts walking toward Slughorn's party, causing Severus to follow. She smiles back at him, "You said you needed to speak to Harry?"

"Yes."

"Then let's go to the party, I bet he's there."

"Go there together?"

"We'll just walk in at the same time.", Hermione says as she winks.

Severus chuckled, "Ah, ok. By the way, you look beautiful, Hermione."

Hermione blushes, "Thank you, you clean up nice."

"Hey!"

They share a laugh and continue on their journey; Hermione keeps a hold of Severus's arm while walking into the party causing a few stares but nothing they cared about. Hermione looked around until she saw Luna and dragged Severus over, "Luna!"

"Oh, hello Hermione, Professor Snape."

"Luna, where is Harry?"

"He's off talking with Professor Slughorn."

Hermione nods, "Of course. Professor you go that way, and I'll go this way."

They share a nod before splitting to opposite sides of the room. After about 10 minuets of looking Hermione grabs a glass of Cider and leans up against a wall, "Harry can find me."

All of the sudden two hands appear against the wall on either side of Hermione's face, she looks up to see Cormac McLaggen in front of her, "Wow... Granger, don't you look amazing tonight."

"Thank you, Now please go away. I'm waiting for Harry."

"Nah, he came with Looney Luna."

"Don't call her that! She isn't looney!"
