Chapter 5: The Fall

Carissa's POV

Katie and I walked down to the pool that was open 24 hours a day. It was around 10:30pm and no one else was there but us.

"Yay! we have the pool all to ourselves!" Katie said "I know right!, let's go to the hot tub first," I declared

We walked to the hot tub and got in. Katie stole my sunglasses from me (even though I don't need them) because she thought they were cool. We talked about our problems, some gossip from school, and boys.

"Sooooo, who do you like Carissa?" Katie questioned while raising her eyebrows up and down.

"Don't make me say it out loud please." I replied while dragging out the 'e' in please.

"Say it" She retorted. "Fine, I like pinecone," I said sheepishly. Katie burst in laughter at the fact that I couldn't even say his name.

"Sooooo, who do you like?" repeating exactly what Katie did. "My husband. That's the only person I like." She replied.

"Your husband, as in Hayes?" I asked. "Yup" She answered. "Okay..." I retorted.

"What? It's not weird," Katie replied. "You're right it isn't weird........ Now let's go to the pool!" I said sarcastically.

We got out of the hot tub, grabbed each other's hand, and ran to the pool.

"CANNONBALL" we both yelled simultaneously.

We got into the water and started to swim around. We were trying to decide on what to do. Colors? No. Marco Polo? No. Racing? No. Tag? Yes!

"Hey Katie, lets play tag!" I yelled to her.

"Ya!" She screamed back. She was way too hyper right now.

Katie's POV

"Let's do Rock Paper Scissors to see who is 'it' first," I suggested.

We did Rock Paper Scissors and Carissa lost.

We were in the water swimming around for about 1 minute when she finally got me. Carissa swam all the way to the edge of the pool and got out. I swam after her and followed her out of the pool.

I stepped onto the cold concrete and instantly got the shivers.

I was way too hyper when I yelled from the top of my lungs, "Katie's it b*****s!!!" and Carissa laughed so hard. It was my chance to get her.

Hayes' POV

Dylan and I were walking to the pool when I heard some girl yell,"Katie's it bi*****s!!!"
We both looked at each other and started laughing our heads off.

We peeked through the gate and saw two brunette girls running around in their bikinis. They were both shorter than me, looked around my age, and seemed familiar.

One came up to my nose and she had long light brown hair and a pink cheetah print swimsuit. The other girl only came to my chin and she had shoulder length dark brown hair and a bright orange swimsuit with black bottoms. They were both really pretty and were very skinny.

Dylan and I went through the gate and the girl with the pink bikini was running towards me. She looked back and didn't realize I was there. She bumped into me and we both fell. She was on top of me, her arms on both sides of my head, supporting herself.

She looked down and said, "Oh My God, I'm so sorry I didnt me-" Then she looked up and froze.

Katie's POV

I was running and then I suddenly bumped into a boy.

I looked down, embarrassed, and said, "Oh My God, I'm so sorry I didnt me-" Then I looked up. I saw those electric blue eyes and instantly knew who they belonged to. I couldn't speak or move, I was frozen.
