Chapter 28: Hiking

Dylan's POV

I woke up to the banging of something downstairs.

"What the he*l?" I muttered.

I got up from my cozy bed, as much as I hated to, and walked slowly and silently down the stairs. I pushed myself up against the wall just in case it was a robber or something. I slowly peeked around the wall...

nothing there

I heard the banging once more, I could tell it was coming from the living room. I crept across the hallway to the living room. I peeked around the wall again...

nothing there

"Okay, is someone playing a joke on me?! Cause if you are, you got me!" I yelled.

I got no answer until I saw something big fly across the room and I yelled in fear.

It was a black crow flying crazily around the living room. It flew into many items around the room, knocking them over. I was still yelling when it eventually fell to the ground.

Katie came running down the stairs. "What is going on down here?!" She screamed, "You woke me up from my beauty sleep!"

"Katie! Watch out!" I shouted.

The bird flew straight towards Katie and she ducked fast enough to just barely miss the bird.

She stood up and put her hand over her heart and breathed heavily. Then, she ran over to the sliding glass doors and pulled them open. The bird flew through door and out of the house.

"Okay, now that that's settled," She motioned her hands towards the bird and giggled.

I let out a small chuckle. "Ya," I replied

"What are you doing up so early?" Katie questioned.

"The bird woke me up, to be honest," I admitted.

Katie laughed and said, "That dang bird's waking everyone up," "Well, except Carissa and Hayes. They're pretty heavy sleepers," She laughed.

I sat down at the table and Katie made some quick Nutella crepes for the two of us. She put them on plates and sat down across from me.

I quickly sunk my teeth into the crepe and closed my eyes.

"These crepes are delicious," I mumbled.

"I know," She agreed.

We both laughed.

"I used to make these all the time at home, they are actually quite easy to make," She added.

"We should go hiking today!" I exclaimed.

"That wasn't random at all," She said sarcastically and laughed.

"Sorry," I chuckled.

"We should, though. That sounds fun. I gotta get working on these abs," She said while holding her stomach.

"What abs?" I said sarcastically.

We both laughed and agreed. "We should probably go hiking soon because the trail looks beautiful in the morning." I suggested

"Ya, but we should go wake up Carissa and Hayes." Katie put in.

I nodded my head and I went to Hayes' room and Katie went to Carissa's room.

Katie's POV

I walked into Carissa's room and jumped right on top of her.

"AAAAAA!" She yelled while flailing her arms and legs. Her right hand smacked me right in the face.
