Chapter 24: Break Free

Hayes's POV

I don't what to do. I really like Katie, but at the same time I think I have feelings for Kourtney. I know it's wrong, but I just don't know what to do.

I open my eyes and the sun isn't up yet. I looked to my left, expecting to see Katie curled up next to me, but instead it's Kourtney. I swear I went to sleep next to Katie, I said to myself.

I got up and only saw Nicole, Kourtney, and Dylan lying on the hammock with me.

I looked around and saw Katie on the beach, just sitting on the sand. Carissa and Jessica were walking back inside.

As I got closer, it looked as if Katie was crying. I didn't know I hurt her at all.

I sat down next to her. She wiped her eyes and started to get up. I grabbed her hand and urgently said, "Wait! Katie! Just let me explain."

I could tell she was too tired to fight back so she slumped back down on the sand, defeated.

She half smiled at me, so it wouldn't be awkward but I knew it was fake. She was wearing her swimsuit with only a sheer cardigan.

"Hey," She mumbled.

"Hi," I said glumly.

"We need to talk," She stated.

I nodded my head.

"What is going on? What's up with you and that 'Kourtney' girl? She was all over you yesterday," She asked, obviously jealous. "Do you have feelings for her?! Cause if you do, I don't wanna get in the way of that," She said, raising her voice.

"Do you trust me?" I simply said.

"I don't know anymore, Hayes. I don't know." Katie whispered.

"I'm sorry." I whispered back, looking down.

"You know what? You should be! That stunt back there, was humiliating. Why would you just ignore me when Kourtney was there! And do you think that made me feel good about myself?! Because it sure as he*l didn't! She's obviously perfect for you, Hayes! That look you gave her, you obviously feel something. So, let me ask you this: What's stopping you? What's stopping you from shattering my heart and breaking up with me?! What's stopping you from being with Kourtney?!"

"I-uh" I stuttered.

Katie's POV

"I-uh" he stuttered.

"Hey baby, did you sleep well." Kourtney smugly said, as she made her way onto Hayes's lap.

"Kourtney, I'm not in the mood, please go harass someone else." Hayes angrily muttered.

"But sweetie pie-" She said slurring her words.

"NO! Get off my lap and GO AWAY!" Hayes said sternly to her.

"Fine, be like that, I'll just go hang with Dylan." Kourtney said as she got up off of Hayes's lap.

"Okay, you know what, Kourtney, just back off, cut it out. Obviously, no one likes you here, so just go back to whatever hole you came from. And instead of trying to ruin other people's relationship's, ruin you own. Oh wait, you don't have one. I wonder why," I said sarcastically with a smirk on my face.

"Oh, and by the way, don't you ever go to Dylan because he's Carissa's man." I reminded her as she stomped off, still making sure to sway her hips as she walked.

"You've got to be kidding me" I mumbled to myself. I need some food. I started getting up, but Hayes pulled me down.

"Look, I don't have any feelings for her. Just you. You, and you only." He said smiling, I knew he was lying but I didn't care.
