I didn't belong here. I never have. Training long hours and hardly getting any progress the sour old teacher told me to rest for the night. It wasn't until the third night that father asked to see me again. For dinner, there was a fine 'wine' or blood as anyone else would put it. I never asked where it came from. I didn't want to know.

"I've decided." Father suddenly said and I looked up from the drink I hadn't touched.
"If you're unable to complete your studies here you won't be returning to your pathetic school." I gaped at him quickly standing up.

"You can't do that! It was never a part of the deal." His eyes shot red forcing me to sot back down.

"Id watch your tone. In this castle, you listen to me. Complete a simple hypnosis such as the one I just did and be able to travel through mist then do as you please. I've had enough of a pathetic weak child." With the set of cutlery in front of me only ever meant for threatening and pointless decor, a grabbed a knife-throwing it as hard as I can right above his head and into the stone wall behind him.

"I am not pathetic nor am I weak. I'm just not who you want me to be." stomping off I growled to myself.

"She's been drinking from pure-blooded wizards." Someone said. I did throw the knife hard. It must have gone through the wall. It's true, drinking from stronger blood although it doesn't taste different it's said to make you stronger. That's been my diet for the past nine months.

Caith was in my bedroom when I returned.

"You know you can't be in here. I'm meant to stay pure remember." I mocked shutting the door. Sex wasn't allowed until after the ceremony. You give your partner body and soul. Complete bull if you ask me.

"That didn't stop you from fooling around with those toys of yours. How are they?" He knew his plan didn't work. The smell would have been obvious.

"I don't want to talk to you." I bluntly said grabbing out my sketchbook that id started the other day.

"Somethings never change." He stood with a sigh and glared lightly at me as he walked towards the door. "You're still a bitch."

"No, I just hate you." He growled to himself leaving the room.

This was what it was like for the whole two months of summer break. Only a few days I managed to stay up late enough to watch the sunrise. It was near impossible to complete my training, although I never really was trying until everything was at stake for it.

First I managed to hypnotise a maid to sit down with me for lunch. She was human and forced to stay here. Normally they're not allowed to talk with the 'princess' but I made her so father didn't have her killed. She was actually a nice person. Despite having to live here. Then came turning to mist. It was the most painful thing I've ever had to do. Turning your whole body into a disincarnated black mist and back again hurt like hell and I wasn't able to do it long at first until it was almost time to leave. Which would be how id gets back to school. It was my last night and so I was drinking some special blood for the hell of it. Drinking in one of the towers a presence was behind me. Who I thought was Caith to annoy me once more but it was Quinn. My brother whom I never really talk to. No one ever understands.

"You found my spot." He said sitting not too far from me.

"I didn't know this was your spot," I spoke back staring out at the dark sky. It would be morning in a few hours and I planned to walk for a while through the forest. It was silent for some time, he was never the talkative type. Nor was he ever able to speak with me, I never knew why but I guess being a half breed is the answer.

"You were always so close to her. Mother." He perked up and I glanced in Quinn's direction.

"She was the only one who cared for me. She spoke fondly of you." I smiled at him but Quinn did seem to know what I smile was. "I would often watch you play with other older kids from up here before my classes." And father would hit me for staying up until the sun came through the mountain range. It always hurt enough to make my cheeks red, my tears would make them sting all the more.

"And father does care for you." I scoffed standing up with one last swing of the blood I had.

"No, he doesn't. What father denies his child of a choice." Quinn just the book he was reading and stood beside me.

"One who doesn't want other vampires to kill them. There's been word across the European Union that you're a half breed. They're planning something. He may not care for you the way you want but he doesn't want you dead." I rolled my eyes.

"Should I be overjoyed then?"

"He killed mother for making you and yet here you are. That's got to mean something." I suppose he's right. Leaving Caith on the tower I left the now empty castle halls for Hogwarts. Only one more year and then I can leave this life behind me.
