Chapter Two

"Him"

•

"Hey, Jimin!" Hoseok greeted, catching up to Jimin, who was walking straight ahead.

Jimin looked back, the corner of his mouth lifting. "Hey, hyung..."

Hoseok tugged Jimin into his arms, engulfing the smaller one in a warm, big hug. "I missed you! You didn't attend school for three days, and I haven't received any information about Tae!"

Jimin tried to smile. "He's not back yet." He looked down at his shoes. "Maybe it was my fault. I pushed him away... I mean, who would even like me?"

Hoseok suddenly pinched Jimin's nose. "Yeah—and way too adorable for your own good!" He laughed. "Come on, sweetie. Taehyung loves you for who you are, and he's still head over heels in love with you."

Jimin nodded slowly, his eyes not meeting the other's. "That was before... I still hope so."

"Hey, cheer up!"

And he really wants to. He waved Hoseok goodbye as the other waited at a bus stop. Jimin continued to walk toward their apartment until he felt someone pull him into a hug from behind.

Initially, he thought it was who he was hoping for, but eventually he freaked out and pulled away hysterically. He turned around quickly, moving his hand up in the air to maybe slap the person—but he was shocked when the unfamiliar face wore a crestfallen expression.

"I'm sorry..." The guy pressed his lips apologetically, "Wrong person."

Jimin lowered his hand. The guy was not ugly or perverted-looking. Actually, he looked handsome—like an idol, or maybe a rich successor. He was dressed like one. "It's okay."

When their eyes met, he felt strange in a way he couldn't comprehend. The guy, who was a few inches taller than him, was the first to look away. "Again, I'm so sorry..." After saying that, he walked the other way at a fast pace.

Jimin was confused. It bothered him to the core. Somehow, he felt like he knew him—but all his wonder disappeared as he stepped into his apartment.

Something was different. He ran toward his room, his shoes flying out as he took them off. The door was open, so he easily dashed inside—and froze.

Taehyung was standing a few feet away from him, looking just as shocked. He was in the middle of biting a chunk out of his sandwich when he dropped it on the floor absentmindedly.

"Jimin?" The way he said his name was off—it felt like it was the first time he'd ever said it—but Jimin did not care.

"Taehyung!" he said happily, jumping up to wrap his arms around the taller man's neck. The latter seemed taken aback but soon found his hands resting on Jimin's waist.

"You look thinner than..." he trailed off.

Jimin felt ashamed as he nodded. "I was a bit stressed," he explained as his arms fell to his sides. His eyes moved around the room. "I was worried..."

The taller nodded. "I'm sorry... Anyway, don't we have anything to eat? Um... I'm quite starving..." He picked up the fallen sandwich and tossed it into the trash can.

Jimin nodded. "Ah, I do! I'll heat it up, okay?" he said as he spun around and headed to the kitchen. Taehyung followed suit.

Jimin felt weird as Taehyung kept intently staring at him while he prepared their supper. It's not that he's not used to it, but somehow there was something odd about Taehyung that he couldn't quite point out.
