Minutes have passed waiting for the car engine to start, the horde was growing close, I could hear their screams in the distance, keeping me on edge.
I turn my head around to peer out the back window of the car to see them, my heart begins to race as my eyes lay upon the infected marching through the fog not far from us. There must be a hundred of them.
"Rick?" I speak up, panic through my voice.
"They're coming right for us!" Aaron shouts next to me, clearly a lot more panicked than I am, his eyes were wide with fear.
"Come on!" Glenn yells in frustration as he turns the keys over and over again, the engine gives small coughs of life but doesn't start up.
I keep looking out to back window anxiously, afraid they'll creep up on us suddenly.
"We need to leave, now!" I flinch when Aaron shouts again, making the situation only worse.
"We know!" Rick responds from the front of the car. "Oh man, they're coming!" Aaron continues, irritating the rest of us further. I snap my head towards him furiously, "Can you shut up!" "Come on!" Aaron yells, ignoring my words.
"Wait!" Glenn stops us from starting an argument, I turn back to the front and my eyes catch a bright red light spark soaring towards the dark sky a few miles ahead of us. We all stare at it until I drops from our sight. It's a flare, it illuminated a really tall water tower next to it.
"Who did that?" Rick turns to Aaron, snapping us all out of our gaze and immediately assuming it has something to do with him, the colour drains from the face of the man beside me, his eyes didn't leave the sky.
"Let me out." He speaks up, almost choking on his words. "What's going on?!" "This is over, let me go!" Aaron only ignores Rick, shaking the door handle viciously with his hands still behind him, Glenn must have turned the child lock on his door earlier because it wasn't opening.
As soon as he realised it was locked he starts screaming to be let out and climbs around the back seat, I assume to try my door.
He doesn't hesitate climbing over me, I try to push him off, "Stop! Get off me!" I feel his knees press into my thighs, pain shoots through my ribs as I try to squirm out from underneath him.
"Stop it!" I hear Rick shout with anger, seeing him clearly hurting me. "Let me out!" Aaron continues like an out of control animal, he wasn't going to listen to anything.
I hear the door on the left open, and I see Michonne peek her head inside, "Did you see that?" She asks about the flare immediately, unaware of the situation at hand.
Aaron quickly sees his opening and scrambles back across the seat, not hesitating kicking her out of the way. He clearly caught her off guard, she falls out of the car and onto the ground.
