_______________

A/N: Before you read this chapter, I'd just like to apologise for not updating this book in years. Last time I posted I was starting my last 2 years of high school school and I got so busy and eventually didn't even have time to go on here anymore. Now I'm 19 and this is my 2nd year being out of school, how ever I have a job and I'm starting to study in like 2 weeks so I can't promise regular updates on this book. I'm also sorry that this chapter is so shit, I barely remember these eps from twd and it's hard to find the episodes to re watch when you live in Australia and don't have Foxtel lol. I'm trying my best, please bare with me, I hope you enjoy :)

"We're always here after school, so you can come anytime." The boy says to me, putting his hands in his pockets casually. I was slightly baffled by what he just told me. School? As if that's important these days, what's the point of that? I didn't expect anyone to be learning anything in a school besides the quarantine zones. There, the soldiers forced us to attend military school. We learnt how to kill enemies and do stupid chores, at least before I ran away. It was nothing like what I heard the world was like years before everything happened though.

"You guys go to school?" I question, trying not to come across as rude from my tone. He sees right through me, he smiles and nods his head, "It's in a garage, the little kids go in the morning, then us in the afternoon.. So probably you too right?" He turns his head down to me as we get to the doorway of the bedroom. "Yeah, sure." I reply, doubtful I'd be attending. He stops and looks in the room, I follow his gaze. A girl sat on the bed reading something, looked like a comic book, another boy was at the end of it on the floor, fiddling with something.

"Guys, this is Ellie. That's Mikey, and Enid." He points at the boy, then the girl. I glance at the two of them.

This feels awkward.

"Hey," the boy, Mikey, stands up and walks towards us in the doorway. He stood the same height as Ron, he had dark hair and brown eyes, wore a grey sweater with a red shirt poking out underneath, looking similar to Ron, they're siblings.

"Hi." Enid says bluntly after sighing, not even lifting her eyes off her comic to greet me. She has long brown hair, wearing a long sleeve grey and pink shirt, jeans and boots.

"Enid is from outside too, she cane in just a few months ago." Ron places a shoulder on her, turning his head to me, I can tell he's trying to make me feel comfortable, I can't tell if it's working. I wonder if she's been through just as much shit as I have, maybe we can get along.
This is when she does take her eyes off the page she's reading, she looks at me for a few seconds, almost like she's trying to figure me out. Her face was emotionless, then her eyes went straight back to her book without a word.

Silence filled the room. My eyes couldn't help but gaze around at this place, there was posters on the wall, a small dusty tv at the end of the bed with plenty of things on the floor around it, thought I cant tell what they are. Some bean bags were on the floor with it all. Also a table in the corner with bits and pieces dumped on top of it, I catch a glimpse of a small stack of comics on it.
I realise that I took a comic book from the other house I was in before, maybe it belonged to them?
I crouch down, sliding my bag off my shoulder to unzip it, I pull out the old comic, "Oh uh, is this yours?" I stand back up, holding the comic out to Mikey, nervous.
"Oh, shit sorry, didn't know you guys got that house." Ron shrugs at me. "We mostly just hang out up there and listen to music," Mikey places his hands on his hips, "That's Enid's." He points his thumb towards Enid, I look back to her, before I can hand it over, she takes it from my hands and throws it on the bed next to her.
