「 chapter 18 」
_______________

I wait outside the church in the fresh air, the remainder of the group was saying their goodbyes to Bob, he was going to go any minute now. I decided to stay alone with my thoughts, giving the people that loved him as much time as they wanted with him, I didn't need to take any of it up.

I lift my head up when I hear an engine start, Abraham is in the bus. That was quick.
I stop leaning in the wall and uncross my arms as he steps out of it, "You're leaving already?" I ask.
"We did our job, now it's time to go." He says, now beginning to pick up belongings and pile them inside. I roll my eyes, then notice Tyrese in the paddock with a shovel, he must be digging a grave for Bob, there was a gaping hole and a pile of dirt beside it.

I barely notice everyone walking out of the church behind me, Sasha had wet cheeks and was wearing Bob's jacket, it was obvious what happened. I turn my gaze back to the bus, now seeing Maggie, Glenn, Rosita, Eugene and Abraham are saying goodbyes.

I watch sadly, I don't want our group to split.

"I hope to see you in DC."
I turn around to the voice behind me, Eugene. He smiles lightly at me.
"Yeah, we'll see." I smirk, shrugging my shoulders. Truth is, I don't know if I want to even go to DC. He nods, walking away, then Tara makes her way towards me.

"Hey," She stops in front of me and just stares for a second before pulling me into a tight hug. "Watch yourself out there, it's a shitty world." She pulls away, I nod sadly before she turns away and gets on the bus.

I look around and say goodbye to a few others, then Abraham appears in front of me. He folds his arms across his chest and looks down at me, frowning, like he was waiting for something. I raise an eyebrow at him, unsure.

"Look kid, the world needs you. Don't die on us, hear me?" He finally speaks. The way he just said that sounded so serious but I couldn't tell if he's joking or not.

"Uh, okay." I say in a nervous exhale.
He nods, and I see a smile forming in his face, "Hope to see you again, maybe in DC." He pats my shoulder before turning around and getting in the bus with others.

I scan the area for Maggie and Glenn, knowing they can't leave until I say goodbye. As soon as Maggie finished talking to Sasha, I wrap my arms around her, hugging her tightly. I hear her sigh before she pulls her arms around me. "I'll miss you so much." I mutter into her clothes. "It's okay, Ellie. I'm sorry this is happening." I feel her hand on my head before we part. "We will see each other again, I promise." She holds my shoulders, I nod. "Good girl." Then Glenn appears next to her, "Hey." He says, which was my queue to then hug him, I immediately feel his arms around me. "Be good for Rick, yeah?" I hear him say. "I will." I nod, parting from him.
"Do you guys really have to go?" I ask, realising I might actually never see them again. After all we've been through, them looking out for me, it's now goodbye? "Yeah." He nods sadly. I can tell he didn't want to, nether did Maggie, this was just to keep everyone happy, it was bullshit.
"I'll see you around." He pats my shoulder with a sad smile and goes onto the bus with Maggie.
