「 chapter 34 」
_______________I burst through the front door of the house, not bothering to shut it behind me, I'll leave again within the next minute or so.
As I head upstairs and finish packing my things, I began to think of a plan to get out of here without being seen or killed. I'm going to have to make sure no one sees me climb over the wall, once I'm over, I have to make sure who evers on guard duty can't see me, which means I'll have to go more towards the back of Alexandria. Before all of that, I need to ensure there's no infected waiting to eat me alive on the other side. Once all of that is covered, I need to figure out how to find Enid.
How do I find Enid? She left me no clues or hints or ever told me what direction she wants to head in, and I need to be back before sunset.
I glance at the clock sitting on my bedside table, it's nearly lunch time. I have a few hours to look around at least.
Before I leave my room, I change from my jacket into a warmer, orange hoodie, put on my better shoes and throw my water bottle into my backpack. I zip it up and put it on, walking out of the bedroom. This outfit is definitely not suitable for night time temperatures at this time of year, I really do need to be back before the sun goes down.I head down the stairs quickly, entering the kitchen. I throw my bag on the bench and pull out the bottle, filling it up with water under the tap over the sink before putting it back. Then I put my bag back on before grabbing the peanut butter sandwich I made earlier. I haven't had lunch yet, so this is it.
Once I was sure I had everything I needed, I turn around to leave to kitchen, only to come face to face with Rick.
My heart sinks into my stomach.
I didn't even hear him come home. I glance at the front door, mentally cursing myself for leaving it open.
"Rick... I–" I stutter in shock, realising my plan has just gone down the drain. It's all ruined, there's no way I'm getting out of here now. I'm standing in front of him, dressed for the cold weather, my backpack on me and full of resources. He's going to know I'm up to something."What're you doing? Where are you off to?" He questions, the tone in his voice made him sound like he was tired.
"I was just... Uh..." I stare at him blankly. My own brain has failed me, it turned to mush. I couldn't think of a single excuse to give him. I was truely fucked.
"Ellie." He says simply, I freeze and wait for him to continue, but his eyes glance between my back pack, the sand which in my hands, and my eyes.
"Tell me you weren't thinking about going over the walls again." He says with a scary tone, raising an eyebrow at me.I open my mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
I stare at him with guilt, I've been caught red handed and he knew it.He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose.
I sigh too. "Rick, come on, it's not–" He stops me, holding up a hand, "Sit down. Sit down." He moves to the side, giving me full view of the living room, which tells me I need to go sit on the couch.
