My feet flare in pain as I run, heading straight back to Michonne. I could see her, frustration from the situation we're now in was clear on her face, she was waiting for me. I watch her slide the katana out of it's holder smoothly as I raced across the grounds. She made it look so easy, but if I tried, I'm sure I'd slice my own arm in half.

I hear the screams of the infected horde approaching quickly, causing my heart rate to jump. Soon we will be surrounded.

In the middle of all the panic, I realised I only had my knife on me to defend myself. Shit.

"I don't have my gun!" I yell as I reach Michonne. I can't tackle all these infected with just a knife, I can barely tackle one at a time.

"Rick took it, use mine." She slides her pistol from her belt and hands it to me.

I internally groan. Of course he took my gun. I check the bullets, there's a full magazine.

"Make them count." She says, watching me count the rounds. I nod at her.

"Come on!" She takes off in another direction, she looks like she just spotted the others running on the other side of the neighbourhood. I stay right behind her, glancing at the horde of infected regularly, they quickly swarm the grounds.

They're all going to get in here, what the hell are we going to do?

"Wh–where are we going?!" I shout to her over the screams.

"There!" She shouts back, pointing at Rick, Dianna, Ron and Gabriel also trying to escape the horde. Rick was holding Dianna up, who was limping badly. They didn't look like they had many weapons.

"Start shooting!" Michonne tells me as we run closer to them. I didn't hesitate raising my gun right there, squeezing the trigger once it was aimed at the infected's heads. I shoot at the ones closest to the others, careful of my aim.

Rick and the others turn their heads in our direction, relief on their faces when they realise we've come to help.

Michonne begins taking out the legs of the infected too, they collapse, screeching in pain, and blood once again stains the streets.

"Stay close!" Rick yells over the attack, also raising his gun and taking down a few infected getting too close. Once Michonne and I had reached them, we stay in a close circle, watching each others backs and making sure no one was about to get nabbed as we continued running for our lives.

When the gun in my hands began to click instead of firing bullets, my heart plummeted.

"I'm out!" I yell out to who ever is listening. I slide it away into the back of my jeans and pull my switchblade out instead. I didn't feel confident at all using it in a time like now, but it's better than nothing when I need to defend myself.
