「 chapter 26 」
_______________

"Alright guys, Dianna's ready for the next person. Ellie,"

My head lifts from the ground upon hearing my name, I see Aaron standing over me, waiting. I notice everyone else gaze had fallen onto me too.

I uncross my legs to stand, "I'm not sure if that's a good idea." Glenn gets up, facing Aaron.

"It won't take long, we just want to get the kids over with first now that Rick's done." Aaron reassures him calmly.

"Wait, where is he?" I ask, noticing he wasn't with Aaron.

"He's been taken to his new home, he's waiting for you." Aaron answers me with a gentle smile.

"... Like a house?" I ask slowly, unsure of what he means by 'home'.

He nods, "Yes, but we really should go to Dianna now."

"Ellie, if you don't want to..." Glenn faces me, concern clearly plastering his face, how sweet of him.

"No, it's okay I'll go." I nod, giving him a reassuring smile. He nods back at me and I see Maggie giving me a thin lipped smile as I pick my bag up and put it on my back. Aaron guides me towards the man I heard called 'Nicholas', he begins to escort me to Dianna with a rifle in his hands.

The walk is peaceful, I can't see anything but the top of trees swaying in the breeze over the wall, there was no dead bodies or blood or anything laying on the roads, the neighbourhood looked clean, confusion sparked in my mind.

How has this place been so untouched by the rest of the world?

"Hey, Nicholas." I hear a mans voice ahead of me. I look at him as he walks towards us, must be another guy that lives here.

"Hi, how's your day?" Nicholas replies, we stop walking and I wait beside him impatiently.

"Fine thanks, got some new recruits?"
The new man looks me up and down. Dude, ew. I raise an eyebrow at him in disgust, who the hell does he think he is?

"Yeah, a whole new group, taking this one to Dianna." Nicholas nudges me with his elbow, catching me off guard slightly.

"Nice, I'll see you around." The man finishes the conversation with a nod and walks past us.

"Let's keep going." Nicholas says to me, re-adjusting his grip on the gun. I eye it carefully. What would he need that thing for? This place clearly has no threat inside the walls, so why would he feel the need to be holding it on the walk to this lady? Surely he wouldn't think I'm the threat.
