Ciao
Rae
"I need four jets ready for take off, tonight." I told my captain on the phone. It was finally the time to get out of Italy. I'm surprised we stayed here this long. I wouldn't let them hit us head on. The only time we're coming back here is to finish what we started.
It will be best to plan our attack far away.
"I can't have any delays or setbacks. We are leaving tonight." I said sternly.
"Yes ma'am." He replied back on the phone.
"Make it happen." I hung up the phone and put it back in my pocket. Okay, I had set some stuff to be shipped to my house back in the States. Some of my men were going to stay back and make sure that happened. Also, we had a small cargo plane, so our necessities would fit in there. I know Donovan's wallet was shot.
He paid for all four planes. I offered to help, but he denied. I know his money is long, but his operations are not in motion right now. It would soon catch up to him.
Our things were on the way to the airport now and they would be waiting for us once we got there. All we needed to do was wait until then. I set it for tonight to make sure we tied up everything in Italy. We wouldn't be back here for a long time.
"Rae." I looked up to see Donovan approaching me. He looked a little discombobulated. "Everything good?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Are you good? You look not with it." I pointed out. He ran his hands through his hair and shook his head.
"Between me trying to get things going and explaining to Matteo and Leo what the fuck happened, I've been all over the place. I'm just ready to get out of here." He said tiredly. I nodded at him. It was a lot right now, especially now his friends just came into the mix.
"Understandable."
"How are things with you?" He asked concerned. That's a great question.
"Just taking it one day at a time. That's all I can do. We're on borrowed time, I can't afford to lose focus. No matter how messed up this situation is. We've got to keep going." He nodded with a small smile.
"Your resilience is something else." He shook his head, "I wish I was as strong as you." There was sadness behind his voice. I know he has a past, but he kept it locked tight. Not that I asked him about it, but no one knows too much about him. I wasn't going to pry.
For now.
Matteo came in before I got to respond to him. He looked at us with his eyebrows raised.
"Everything cool?"
"As good as can be." Donovan replied. Matteo put a thumbs up and turned towards me.
"I wanted to say I appreciate you accommodating me and my two idiot friends. Well...one is more of an idiot than the other." Matteo motioned around. "As you can see...he's the reason for this very situation-."
"Don't get beat up." Donovan cut in.
"Oh please, I'd like to see you try." Matteo laughed out. "Don't get your ass whooped in front of this gorgeous woman right here." He smirked at me. And he killed it.
