Damn it has been a minute, I do apologize for that. The semester is over and we're back at it.
Let's gooooo.
Recap

"Get up." I told him. "You're going to greet him when he pulls up. Then we're going to come out, don't do any funny shit." He slowly got up and tried to get his self together. We went back over to the truck and watched him at the front. Soon enough, a pickup truck came into view.
"Rick, what's happened to you?!" The guy got out of the car and ran up to him. Matteo busted the guy with the gun and he fell straight to the ground. "Shit! Ah. What the-."
One of my men who came with us had Rick in his grasp.
"Donovan Russo, he's in jail." Matteo started. "What do you know about that?"
"Shit Rick! You said this wouldn't come back on us!" Matteo kicked him in the face and his nose began to bleed badly.
"You ain't talking to Rick right now, you're talking to me. Just like you got him in there, you need to get him out. Or I will unload this whole magazine on you." He bent down to grabbed him by his collar. The guy shook his head.
"Okay, okay. Please, alright? L-l-look, I got h-him in there-but now it's out of my hands. I'm just a regular officer, okay?! They're-they're trying to book him in pri-prison without tri-trial." He cried to us.
"Who is trying to book him in prison?" I asked.
"We already ha-had some mafia crook in there, alright? The-the warden of the prison is working with this big shot over in Italy. Some big man in charge, alright?" The three of us looked at each other, Leo walked up and looked at the guy.
"Big shot? There is a mafia member already in there?" I was trying to piece all this together.
"Ye-yes. This big shot in Italy wants this mafia member released. He got word of Russo being in the system and offered a trade to the warden, along with some money." What the fuck?
"Who's this big shot?" Matteo asked.
"I-I think his name is...Moretti?"

Washing the blood from my hands in the sink. Just thinking in my head, 'here we go the fuck again'. I couldn't catch a break could I. How stupid could I be? Why didn't I question this shit before?
This was Moretti's plan to begin with. Once he found out Donovan was booked, that was his in. Of course he wasn't going to offer help when the situation was now in his favor. He was just going to let Donovan rot in there for life and get one of his goons out.
We had been silent for quite some time. Ever since we got back to the house with this newfound information. I think we're all out to hit Moretti where it hurts, but Matteo has been on a torment I didn't know was within him. He shot that bartender like it was nothing. While he may have been some racist, misogynist hick...not everyone deserves a bullet in their head.
I had never seen Matteo in this light and I'm not sure about this character change. It needed to be addressed before we did anything more together. Before a situation went south and he ended up doing something he'd deeply regret later.
I think Leo is trying to disconnect as much as possible. He's not letting the killing or the go, go, go, get to him. He's just been mapping plans and acquiring information about people. I also wanted to talk to him to see where his head was at.
