Sheesh sorry for the late update.
It be like that sometimes...Donovan
I looked around the small city and took in the scenery. It has a nice little charm to it. Way smaller than Sicily for sure. To be honest, I have traveled, but not really to the U.S. I always did most of my travel in Europe, that's where my business was. I really hadn't interacted with the American market.
Rae had gotten ahold of a truck and that would be our mode for transportation until further notice. Our men were positioned on the outskirts of town, in case when needed to call them in. We didn't want to draw too much attention having them with us.
Even so, there wasn't that many to begin with.
It was like I was starting all over again. It's so hard to get a crew established. Finding people who are loyal and will get the job done. Two hard things to come by. Anybody would do it for the money, but you don't want those kind of guys.
Because they'll do it for anyone.
"Nice little town here, Rae." Matteo commented as he looked out the window. "Looks boring as hell."
"Hey now, we're not here to have a good time. We are in hiding." She retorted. "Get distracted if you want to, but you're not gonna last long." True that. Matteo huffed as he leaned back in the seat. Such a little ass kid.
Eventually, a nice home came into view. Rae pulled in the driveway and put the truck in park.
"Well, we're here." She opened the door and got out. I looked at the house, it was smaller than hers in Italy, but big enough for the four of us. We started unloading the truck and putting things in the house.
"You guys can choose any room, except mine." Rae announced.
"And yours is?" I asked.
"Up the stairs, last one on the left." She clarified. I went to get my room first while Matteo and Leo were distracted. We were probably going to argue over it, so I decided to seize the moment.
I walked down the hall and saw the door to Rae's room. I looked at another door right across from hers. I opened it to see it was a nice size. It looked very comfortable. Had lots of pillows on the bed and plush blankets. Yeah, this would do.
"Course' you pick the one right across from her. You're so predictable bro." I turned to Matteo leaning against the doorframe with that asshole smirk on his face.
"Yeah? Me being in an entirely separate room from her, across the hall, is the closer than you have ever been to a girl." I clapped back. He let out a laugh.
"Oh you're smoking. You know that's not true." He shook his head, "But I get it. You're a little defensive because you're denying your feelings."
"I'm not being defensive about anything."
"Mhm, alright, D. It's not like I haven't know you all my life." He said.
"Rae and I have a great friendship going right now, don't ruin it. She's got her own thing going." I began to unpack stuff as he was still staring at me from the doorway.
"Such a gentlemen..." He softly said as he exited. Damn, he could be so annoying sometimes. I'm not even going to mull over his remarks.
I had most of my things packed into the dresser. I still would need to buy some clothes. I don't wear the same shit every week. Probably hit up the mall sometime soon. I went out the room and back downstairs. I saw Rae looking in the cabinets.
"Definitely need to do some grocery shopping, or we will starve." I chuckled as I came around the counter.
"Probably a good idea." She closed the cabinets and checked her phone. "I was going to ask, any jurisdiction here?"
