Cigarettes After Sex - Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby ••••••••••••••••••••
After their last breakfast before the end of term Evangeline took herself down to the Black Lake and sat in her usual spot. As she rested her head against the tree her mind was full of memories over the past year. How everything had changed, how different things were and how they were about to get worse. The thought that the future was so uncertain sent a small pain in her chest as the anxiety rose through her. She rolled the sleeves of her shirt up as the sun shone down on her burning into her pale skin. In her hand lay the Lily necklace wrapped around her fingers. She stood up and opened the clasp, she found a small branch on the tree and hung the necklace around the wood. She closed the clasp and took a step back, she watched as it glistened in the light and wavered slightly in the summer breeze.
She took the Lily between her fingers and whispered "I'll always think of you"
The walk back to the common room was quiet. All of the students would likely be packing and collecting all their things before the train arrived in less than an hour. Evangeline had woken up earlier that morning and decided to put away all her things before breakfast. She knew Pansy would be running around the dorm, clothes laying everywhere and music blaring.
Evangeline couldn't help but think of Draco as she passed down the empty corridors. She hadn't seen much of him since his dinner but caught glances of him in class and at meal times. She hadn't slept well, wondering whether she has made the right decision in forgiving him. But he wasn't the one who needed to be forgiven. She would never forgive Lucius. Evangeline hadn't thought as to how she would react to seeing him again, she prayed she never would but that was unreasonable. She had to remind herself that Draco wasn't to blame for his father's actions and Narcissa had helped her see that. She wouldn't like to be blamed for something her parents did. Her chest tightened when she realised that some day she may be faced with the same problem Draco experienced. A nightmare from a couple of nights ago played on her mind, Lucius with his wand pressed against her throat laughing down at her with his small beady eyes. Evangeline noted Draco did not share his eyes with his father and luckily inherited his mother's eyes. Thankfully they were warm and more inviting. She shook her head as she approached the common room. Note to self stop thinking pleasant things about Malfoy.
She pushed the door of the common room open slowly, students of all ages were gathered around and trunks were lined up along the walls. She made her way up the stairs and entered her dorm. As she suspected Pansy was red, hair tied up in a messy bun and music so loud she could feel it vibrating through the air.
"Thank Merlin you're back! I need help" she motioned to the mounds of clothes filling the room which caused Evangeline to wonder where she kept them all. She laughed and gave Pansy a tight hug "are you alright?"
