They reached the Great Hall, sitting in their usual seats in the middle of the table, Pansy next to Evangeline and on the other side was Benjamin. Facing her was always Theo on either side of him Blaise and Draco. Elijah sat next to Benjamin usually with his head in a book not really joining in on any conversations they had. She hadn't realised how much she missed it in here, it was always so loud and full, the atmosphere was like no other. The sorting ceremony lasted around an hour, only a few Slytherins were sorted into their house taking up some of the empty spaces at the end of the table. She turned around to scan the room, there were so many people it was hard to see over the tables.
Turning back to the table, she looked up to find Theo wiggling his eyebrows and nudging Blaise next to him "Ev, you're not dating him are you?" his tone was disapproving. Draco's eyes peered up above the glass he was drinking from, clearly interested in the conversation. Dinner arrived saving her from answering Theo's question, the next half an hour was pretty uneventful, they were all so hungry that no one spoke they just ate, filling their stomachs before the party tonight.
"Did Nott say you're dating? And you haven't told us!" Blaise was previously distracted by the food arriving so this comment was delayed, he spat out in shock, little bits of his dinner escaped his mouth making Evangeline stick out her tongue in disgust.
"For the record" she brushed a few pieces of food Blaise had spat out onto the door and wiped her finger in disgust "I am not dating him, it's just casual and anyway how do you know who he is?" she answered Blaise, turning her attention back to Theo. Pansy began giggling next to her.
"I have my sources, seems more than causal to me, writing him all summer some say" he shrugged, gaining a chuckle from Draco and Blaise.
"Well your sources are wrong" Evangeline replied, finishing the rest of her drink before slamming it down a little too hard on the table causing people to stare "that was a lot more aggressive than I intended" Benjamin laughing besides her stood up from the table extending out his hand pulling her up beside him "it's not the Hufflepuff is it?" he whispered into her ear which made a blush appear onto her cheeks, he closed his eyes and shook his head dramatically.
"I think I touched a nerve" Theo stood up, as did everyone else. They headed out the hall, making their way to the dungeons for the first time this year.
"I think someone is just jealous" Evangeline pushed him playfully and rolled her eyes, kind of hoping he was a little. He brushed it off and caught up with Draco and Blaise.
As they turned the corner of the dungeons, there he was, leaning against the door of the common room. His head was down, playing with his fingers. Cedric Diggory. He was the guy she was casually seeing. Hufflepuff I know. But he was fun and insanely attractive. She caught up to him, he glanced up and saw her making my way over to him.
