Chapter 5 Lanon

"Sir.. your new candidates are here." Linda popped her head round my door.

"Great thank you." I pulled my iPad into my hands and head out, Linda handed me a couple of booklets as I passed her desk.

"Linda.. if a lady comes by of name Alex Cooper could you bring her up to my office for me?"

"Yes sir. What time is she due to come by?"

"No appointment set but if she does could you show her up to my office for me?"

"No problem"

"Thank you"

The meeting was full steam ahead, the candidates all need to loosen up, guess so do I too really.

"Okay look there is no need to be affaird, I'm here to help you and so are my team.. today will be strange but you'll all get into the swing of it all soon enough. Does everyone understand?"

They all just nodded at me, my mind kept drifting off now and again but knowing I'm nearly done.

"Okay as you all know my office cover there and my pa Linda can help if you get stuck but please if you can wait in here with my team and they will take you all off to the department's... Thank you again."

I stood shaking a few hands as they passed but I kept seeing lindas head bobbing up and down.

I made my way over, she smiled straight away and quickly told me before I had even got through the door.

"Sir that young lady came by... I've left her in your office also a coffee for you."

"Alex is here?"

"Yes sir.. you said earlier.." I could see panic came flushing to her face.

"Yes linda thank you." I tried not to laugh.

"Okay.. Sir is there anything else you need as I'm on a half day.."

"Yes Linda yes go I remember you have to go to the hospital."

"Can I get you anything else?"

"No thank you.. hope it goes okay."

"Thank you so do I."

"If you need me to help with anything..." I offered

"Thank you sir."

"Bye Linda."

I opened my office door to see Alex staring at my photographs on the wall, my coffee letting off all the steam.

"Alex."

"Lonan... hey"

"Good to see you."

"You too.. "

"Didnt think you would come find me."

"Didnt think I would either..." I watched her hesitate and sat back down.

"So your doing better than let on." She asked bluntly

"Lots of hard work though..."

"Clearly" she pointed to my certificates on the wall

"jays coming." I blurted out

"Jay works here?" She panicked

"Yeah he's one the associates. Why don't you want him......Clearly not..." She darted into my cupboard, feeling gob smacked my attention turned back to Jay who was just walking inn

"Alright... how meeting go?"

"Good.. shouldn't you Be with the candidates.."

"Yeah in min.... did you get boys text?"

"About what?"

"God man.... dinner tonight...."

"Sure yeah yeah... "

"Good. right tonight dinner just lads.." he back out the door and he were gone from view.

"You can come out now..." I tried not to laugh

"Dont laugh..." She,pointed at me

"I'm not.. you are one hiding why?" I could see the crooked smile she was trying to hold,back.

"Long story... " She sat back down.

"Lots of time.. No meetings and my pa has gone..." I noticed lots of unread emails sitting in my inbox what I really wanted to read and needed to read but sitting at my desk was Alex.

"So come on why hide from Jay... clares your best bud right?" I quizzed her while reading the first email.

"Just makes it awkward." Her tone seemed tight.

"Are you In trouble?" I blurted out which I was only thinking.

"No... why did you give me your card?"

"Why did you come here?" I fired a question back at her

"Dont answer my question with a question lanon" I looked up and I could see so,much yet do I really need,to,get involved.

"Okay... let me just send these emails.. and we will head out.."

"Where?"

"Look we need to talk and,we,can't hear..." I quickly tapped my key board and pressed send.

"Mr Walsh I am having to head out the office now for rest of the day and Linda is at a hospital appointment. Anything important please call me and I will sort it etc. Lonan"

"All done shall we go.."

"Sure..."

"Shit need that.." pulled that Brown letter under my arm

As much as this felt strange and out of character I just knew we had to get out this building, I grabbed my coat and hurried down the stairs with Alex,behind me.

"Emma... I am out for rest of the day.. Mr Walsh is aware.. Linda is out also.. Anything major call me.Okay." directed quickly to which she just nodded
