"Hello... mum. good to hear your voice... yeah nearly ready just a few things to finalise been all such a rush..... Mum I don't expect dad to come...... if dad wants to come bring him if he don't then don't bring him........ yeah looking forward to seeing you too... okay mum bye"

Sighing as I started to sort the last lot of table gifts & ticking the list of names. there was Lonans and he hasn't replied to our invite. I put a line through his name and shuffled everything together for distraction. winching at pain in my leg I knew it time to start dinner.

I flicked the radio on and begun dinner, chopping the onion and peppers up finely. watching the Time for when Richard will say he's leaving work. and on time he texts me

"Alex.. working late and then going for beers. will try not to be late! X"

Sighing and slamming the knife down and turning the oven off I returned back to the lounge. feeling annoyed and untrusting my thoughts started to run away with me. convincing myself that it's all in my head. Hearing my phone beep:

"Alex, sorry late response just received your invite! Congrats!! Sorry I can't come already have plans away but hope it's a magical day as you dream and require it to be!! All best love Lonan xxx"

"Great.. just great" i released with bated breath and disappointment
Leaving dinner in a mess I disappeared into the bath. candles lit, music on, soap suds covering me up to me chin trying to relax in this massive roll top bath. giving up to relax I sat on the sofa listening to music.

"Hi Lonan, good to hear from you. I understand you can't come. hope you okay? Take care x"

Richard came through the front door drunk again. My heart beated quick and I felt anxious.

"Your home. nice time"
"Alright yeah.. what for dinner!"
"Umm I haven't made any"
"Why?" He clearly was in a nasty mood by his tone and he walked into the. Kitchen

"AAALLEEXX" He screamed from top of lungs
"Coming" I winced and follows the call, felt like my heart was in my throat.

"Why all the mess"
"I started dinner.. you said you'll be home late.. so I went for a bath"
"A bath... I told you I would be home"
"Yeah later though so I thought you wouldn't want to eat"
"Don't back chat me you know it winds me up" his eyes narrowed sharply at me and walked towards me my whole body tightened up like a piece of wood waiting for the impact.. boom and there it was. aching pain, sharp pain, skim tightening, throbbing, pulsating feeling.

"You disgust me" he walked up stairs
Leaning on the worktop I grabbed some ice cubes, wrapped into a tea towel. Trying to calm my heart down panic stuck me.
