We both woke up to a loud banging on the door. Not only was it a non existent issue since we didn't bring anyone over, but it had an unsettling feeling pattering in my stomach."Anna, open up?" It sounded like a female.
"I'll get it." Austin said putting on some underwear. "Just take your time and get dressed." He smiled before walking out and going to the door.
He left the bedroom door open, something I was thankful for since I could hear every little thing from the moment he opened the door.
"Olivia?" He sounded startled.
"Austin, wow you're ... never mind." She sounded flushed and honestly I couldn't blame her. He did have a very nice body. "Where's Anna?"
"Getting dressed. Can I get you something?" He asked as she politely declined.
I made that my cue to go into the living room now that I had on a shirt and some gym shorts.
"Hey." I smiled as I walked in and took a seat beside her on the couch. "Look I'm sorry for last night, it's just.."
"Don't apologize. It's actually why I'm here. Savannah had been suspended. The baseball team filmed the fight and the school got it. They can't do anything to you since you don't go there, but they said that due to her behavior they were suspending her." She explained as relief washed over me at the knowledge that she wouldn't be around Austin for a while.
"Oh." I said trying not to show my joy.
"Yeah, Cole was a little pissed but maybe he can use this time away from her to be less of a jackass." She rolled her eyes. "Look, Anna, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that she's such a bitch to you, and that she doesn't understand that Austin isn't a project piece she can try out like all the others."
"It's fine." I shrugged.
"It isn't. I mean I get it, your boyfriend is hot, like seriously, but I also see how he looks at you and it's clear to anyone with half a brain that he's not interested in anyone else."
"I hope so." I smiled
"Well I know so." She smiled as Austin re-emerged in jeans and a shirt. "Anyway, I'm going to get back. Marcus wanted to watch some new movie on Netflix."
She stood and was about to leave when Austin looked at me and I knew exactly what he was saying.
"Olivia?"
"Yeah?"
"Why don't you just invite Marcus over here?" I smiled.
"No, I don't want to impose on you." She said as Austin came up beside me and kissed the side of my head.
"You wouldn't be. We would actually enjoy some company." He grinned at her.
"Are you both sure?"
"Absolutely." Austin replied.
"Okay." She set her purse back down and took out her phone to text Marcus.
It was about thirty minutes later when he arrived and we all settled into the couch with some popcorn. I was curled into Austin while Marcus and Olivia sat awkwardly beside each other.
I could tell by the sideways glances they kept giving each other that there was probably more going on between them than they were admitting, but I also knew that Marcus was Coles friend and that it wasn't my place to intervene.
Once the movie ended, Olivia picked another one and we just kept putting on movies. Around dinner time Austin ordered Pizza and yet no one was in any rush to do anything else.
Soon enough the day was gone and the clock read midnight. Olivia was asleep with her head resting on Marcus's shoulder.
"You guys should stay the night. You can put Olivia in as my room and I'll just sleep with Austin. We have blankets and the couch folds out." I smiled at Marcus.
"Oh, okay." He agreed and carefully lifted Olivia to take her to my room.
Austin grabbed some blankets and set them on the couch once we had folded it down. That's when Marcus came back and smiled sheepishly as he looked down at the futon.
"Thanks guys. We will try to be quiet when we leave."
"Don't worry about it man. Honestly it's usually just us, it's kind of nice to have company." Austin said.
"Yeah, besides someone has to use my bed sometimes." I half chuckled.
"Well thanks." He said.
"Alright, well we are gonna go to bed, night Marcus." I smiled as he smiled back.
The next morning I woke up to Austin and Marcus talking in the kitchen.
"So how serious is this thing with you and Anna. Not to be a dick, just if I'm going to defend you guys against one of my best friends I kinda want to know." Marcus said.
"I got you. Look Anna's my forever. We've been through a hell of a lot together, and not just the typical teenage stuff either. Her best friend, my ex," he paused, "she died when we were in high school."
"I'm sorry man," Marcus said as I just stood in the hallway, shocked that he was opening up.
"After Molly died I just felt empty, alone. I made her a promise to always take care of Anna and I knew I needed to keep that promise. Me and Anna were inseparable after that. This past summer we took a road trip in Molly's memory and I kind of started to realize that I loved her more than I thought. I didn't know what Molly was asking at the time, but everyday I spend with Anna I understand it more. Anna is everything Molly would have wanted me to find, she's funny, fierce, loving, kind, all the things that I never knew I needed. So yeah, she's my forever dude." Austin explained as I wiped a tear from my own eye.
I heard Olivia come out of the bedroom at that time. "That is the sweetest thing I have ever heard!" She sounded emotional as I crept back into the bedroom and changed into some clothes.
"Morning guys." I smiled as if I had heard nothing.
"Morning, thanks for letting us crash." Olivia moved to hug me. "We gotta get back though, Cole has been blowing up my phone all morning."
"Okay, well come back whenever." I smiled as Austin's hugged me from behind.
"Sure." Marcus shot a smile at Austin before they left.
Once the door was closed he leaned down to whisper in my ear.
"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" He asked.
"Not yet today!" I chuckled as we both got ready for another week of classes.
