Jana's POV
The first day of school was always nerve-wracking. I hated it. I hated school in general. But I had never been the new kid that had no one I knew at my school. I had been attending Westchester High for three years.
I had a fair amount of friends, but I wasn't popular by any means. My best friends were Josie Marshall and Chris Samson. I had known them since Kindergarten.
On this first day of Junior year, I had no problem fitting in. But I noticed one boy that did. He was fairly short, standing around 5'5 or 5'6. He had strikingly blond hair that swept over his right eye. His most noticeable feature was his eyes. He had piercing ice-blue eyes that were absolutely gorgeous. I could stare into them all day.
No one knew anything about this boy. He didn't seem like the kind of person to share about himself. There was a certain intimidating mystery about him that intrigued me to know more.

"So have you guys heard anything about the new guy?" I asked Josie and Chris. It was our lunch break and we were sitting at a picnic table outside.
"I have," Chris announced. "His name is Hunter Hayes. I heard he transferred here from Louisiana. He was some kind of celebrity there or something." He took a bite of his sandwich. I glanced over to the wall of the auditorium where Hunter was sitting with his back against it. He was staring at me. I looked into his eyes until Chris's voice snapped me back to reality. "But his fame ended horribly so he packed up and moved to Nashville to finish high school. At least that's what I heard," Chris finished.
I glanced back over at Hunter Hayes who was still staring at me. He had put earbuds in. I wondered what he was listening to, what was going on in his mind.

The bell rang symbolizing the end of lunch. "I'll catch up with you guys later," I told Chris and Josie.
"Okay, see you at math," Chris replied. He carefully took Josie's hand and laced their fingers together. She leaned on him as they walked towards the door. Were they dating? Josie had never mentioned liking him before...
I picked up the remaining food and trash leftover from my lunch and threw them away at the trash can closest to Hunter. He noticed me and took his earbuds out. "Hi," he called. Did he really talk to me? He seemed incredibly shy.
"Hi," I responded casually. "I'm Jana. Jana Turner." I reached out my hand, expecting him to shake it. Instead he sharply inhaled and a frightened look overcame his eyes.
"S-sorry. I'm Hunter. Hunter Hayes," he responded, softly taking my hand and gently shaking it. "Nice to finally meet you." He smirked.
"You too. So where are you from?" I asked, hoping to find out more about the new boy.
His eyes tripled in size. "I-I...I'm late to class. I need to go," he responded, scared. He hurriedly picked up his things, slinging his backpack over his right shoulder and running to the doors of the school.
Did Hunter just run away from me? Did he actually talk to me? What was it with that boy? He's so strange...
Still contemplating the events of the past two minutes, I stepped through the doors of the high school. I walked around the area where my locker was located, along with Josie's and Chris's. They were nowhere to be found.
I searched for Josie and Chris around the area but I couldn't find them. I decided to go to math before I was late since I still had five minutes before it started. I walked up the steep staircase and turned right to the familiar hallway. Knowing Chris was also in my math class, my eyes searched the halls for him going to the same classroom I was going to.
My eyes scanned the water fountain area. Two figures were there in a tight embrace. The girl's back was against the wall and the boy was in front of her with his arms firmly holding her waist. One of her hands was on his shoulder, the other stroking his cheek. He leaned in and passionately kissed her.
I gasped. The two people were Chris and Josie.
