Hunter's POV
Jana's mom opened the door. "Hi Hunter!" she exclaimed, pulling me into a hug.
"Hi Mrs. Turner!" I responded.
"Jana's still getting ready. She should be down any minute." I nodded, awkwardly shoving my hands in my pockets. "Come in! Can I get you anything to drink?"
"I'm fine," I responded, stepping into the warmth of my girlfriend's home. As we rounded the corner, headed for the kitchen, Jana descended down the spiral staircase.
She wore a dazzling red dress, putting my white button-down shirt to shame. Her hair was stunningly beautiful.
I grabbed Jana's hand and spun her under my arm. She giggled and landed with her hands on my shoulders. I moved my hands to grip her waist.
I touched my nose to hers. "You look beautiful," I whispered before softly kissing her lips.
"Thanks," she said. I longed to kiss her lips again. As I leaned in, Mrs. Turner cleared her throat.
"Oh, sorry," Jana said, breaking away from our embrace. I stood behind her with my arms wrapped around her waist. "We should probably get going," Jana said, turning her head to look at me. She shot me a "let's get out of here now" look.
"Yeah, we should. As always, it was amazing to see you," I said to Mrs. Turner.
"You too! Don't stay out too late," she responded, her voice suddenly turning serious.
"We won't. Promise. Bye, Mom."
Jana and I were out the door and already walking to my car. "God, I'm so glad to get out of that house. She's been acting like she doesn't trust me recently. Anyway, the point is, we're getting away from everything tonight and it'll just be me," Jana started, taking a step towards me. "And you," she said, taking hold of my collar and pulling me closer to her. I didn't know what was getting into her lately, but she seemed to be growing braver and more confident. Her moves were bolder and more obvious as to what she wanted.
I roughly kissed her lips. When we pulled away, we were both breathing heavily. I craved more, but knew we had to be at the light show soon.
"Ready to go?" I asked.
"Yep. Let's get out of here."

Jana's POV
Hunter and I walked through the park, admiring the beautiful red and green lights. "It's so cold out here!" I exclaimed, shivering.
Hunter removed his coat from his body in a single intriguing movement. He draped it over my shoulders and helped me insert my arms into it. He kissed my cheek. "I love you," he whispered in my ear.
"I love you too," I responded, looking up at him and softly pressing my lips to his.
Hunter's POV
We slowly walked in silence through the maze of Christmas decorations. Jana suddenly ran ahead of me, pulling my hand with her. I ran after her, laughing an idiotic laugh.
She kicked over a "please do not touch the lights" sign and dragged me into the center of a tall, hollow, light-up Christmas tree.
"Jana! We can't go in here!" I screamed, laughing even harder now. "You're crazy!"
She laughed and then bit her lip. She stared into my eyes for several seconds. "Just kiss me, Hayes," she whispered, almost inaudibly.
I obeyed her request. I moved my hands to rub her waist under her coat. She roughly kissed my neck, driving me insane. I had completely forgotten we were in public.
I kissed up Jana's jawline and reached her lips. "I love you so much," I whispered against her mouth.
"I love you too. So much," she responded, pressing our foreheads together. I was so caught up in the moment, I didn't even notice our picture was being taken.
Of course, the picture wasn't an issue for a few weeks. That went down as one of the best nights of my life. That was the night I wrote the song I Want Crazy. It wasn't until much later when I realized that I would never get away from Louisiana, away from the pain from the past. It would somehow always come back to haunt me.
