Hunter's POV

I dug my car keys out of my pocket and shoved them into the ignition of my car. I carefully placed the letter beside me on the console. I drove the familiar route to Jana's house.

I parked my car behind Jana's. It took me five minutes to work up the courage to get out of my car. I wiped my eyes from where I had cried a little. I grabbed the letter and left the car.

I slowly walked to the front porch and hesitated before knocking. Her mom answered.

A confused look overcame Mrs. Turner's face. "Hunter...hi," she said.

"Hello Mrs. Turner. Is Jana here?" I asked.

"Yeah, let me get her."

I was left alone for several seconds before Jana appeared on the front porch.

"Hi," I said. She wore little makeup, her hair in a bun, leggings, and a baggy sweatshirt, but still managed to look absolutely gorgeous.

"Hey," she responded simply. She eyed my hand that held the letter.

"So, um...I'm going to Louisiana tomorrow, and...um..." I stuttered. I needed to just spit it out so I could leave. "I need to give you this. It explains everything," I stated, handing her the letter. I accidentally touched her hand in the process and my heart started beating out of my chest.

"Okay," she mumbled.

"I'm really sorry. For everything. I never meant to hurt you. I love you so much," I confessed.

"Thanks," she responded simply. "Bye."

Jana's POV

I shut the door. I stood with my back against it, breathing heavily. I couldn't control the tears. I felt so bad about shunning Hunter. I loved him so much and felt as if I could never stop loving him.

Still against the door, I sobbed uncontrollably. Knowing Hunter couldn't hear me, I whispered, "I love you too."
