Jana's POV

The school day was already more than halfway over and I hadn't spoken to Hunter yet. 20 minutes remained of lunch. Chris and Josie couldn't seem to stay off of each other and couldn't stop kissing. This made me uncomfortable so I decided to visit Hunter.

He was against the wall like yesterday, but today he had a guitar. "Hello," I said when I reached him. I sat down next to him, probably a little closer to him than I should have.

"Jana Turner!" Hunter responded excitedly, biting his bottom lip. "I was working on a new song. Wanna hear it?"

"Absolutely!" I responded, eager to hear what he had made up.

He proceeded to play a tune on the guitar. As he played, I noticed two more scars on his wrist. "There aren't any official lyrics yet, but I'm working on the chorus." He played the short tune again, quietly singing. His voice sounded even more amazing in person. "When the answers that you know just prove you wrong, gotta have a little faith to fall back on. And then all that you've got left is being strong, gotta have a little faith to fall back on."

"Hunter!" I exclaimed.

"What? Was it bad? I'm sorry-"

"No, no, no! It was beautiful!"

"We're the lyrics any good?" he asked timidly.

"Yes! They were better than good! They were...amazing." The way he looked at me made me want to kiss him. Instead, I softly grabbed his hand and looked into his eyes as I laced our fingers together. He tightly held on to my hand, providing me with a sense of security.

Hunter's other hand tucked my hair behind my right ear. He cupped my cheek and stroked it with his thumb before returning his hand to his lap. I felt my face getting hot and knew my cheeks were probably burning red. I never tucked my hair behind my ears. I always let it hang in my face because I was extremely self conscious. Hunter smiled before repeating his action on the other side of my face. "You're beautiful, Jana. Don't hide behind your hair," he whispered.

I cautiously laid my head on his chest and he wrapped his arms around me. He quietly sang in my ear. I didn't even care if Josie and Chris were watching. This moment was perfect.

The end of lunch bell rang. I was extremely disappointed because that meant the perfect moment would soon end.

"I guess we have to go to math now," Hunter said. He had been holding me for at least ten minutes.

"I guess," I responded, sighing. He let go of me and I stood up. I reached for his hands and helped pull him up too. He threw his backpack over his shoulder and picked up his guitar.

He carelessly smashed our hands together and held on tight, swinging his arm a little as he walked. I giggled and he noticed what he was doing, so he swung our arms back and forth, exaggerating it a lot. Our laughter was uncontrollable as we walked into the school.

Hunter put his guitar away and we went to math together, no longer swinging our arms. We each had goofy smiles plastered on our faces. Once we reached our table, Hunter pulled my chair out for me.

"Such a gentleman," I said, making him blush. I had a hard time focusing again due to Hunter. He wrapped his arm around me and stroked my thigh and knee with his other hand.

I was anticipating study hall next and what might happen between Hunter and I. Would we listen to his music again? Would anything happen at all? What was going on between us anyway?
