CHAPTER 25

             WHEN THE TIME COMES...

         “Adam!!” Derek waved at Adam who was wandering in the market with the others. “We got Aya..” Kai came running towards him, Fox followed them dragging the horses. “Where is Aya then?” Adam asked confused. “Wanna see?” Adam, Ezra and Agnes nodded their head as they have never seen him before. Derek placed his hand on Ezra’s shoulders. “Aya was a snake!!??” Aya crawled throw her shoulder and looked at Adam. Arthur and Agnes were terrified of snakes even though it was Aya. So they were shaking head to toe trying to calm down. “Aya is beautiful..” “Yeah..He is..” Adam and Ezra was fascinated by the beautiful creature.

        “Isn’t it time that they all return?” “Hmm? I don’t know.” Said Wolf focusing on his book. “I’m hungry..” “Nothing new.” Wolf was fully immersed in what he was doing. “Can I see too?” Asked Veronica tried to take a peek. “NO!” Wolf closed the book suddenly. “Ahh wae(why)...?” “Cause it’s personal..” Wolf replied tapping the book on her head. “Should I push you off the branch?” “Why?” “I don’t know I just feel like that..” “I never knew behind that rabbit face hid a witch.” “Oh! You are bleeding..” Said Veronica pointing to his Left shoulder. His Shirt had blood stains on it. “It’s nothing I got a new tattoo.” “More tattoo? Let me see it’s on your arm so.” “NO! You can’t cause it’s personal too.” “Okay..” “Let me take you somewhere..” Said Wolf seeing her down face.

          “Yuki is gonna love Aya..” Said Kai widening his eye. “Who’s Yuki?” Asked everyone except Fox. “You guys didn’t know? I have a Fennec..” “A fennec?” “Hmm..My brother gave it to him.” Replied Fox placing her hand on her face. “Huh!? Turns out we are the only people with pets now.” Said Adam looking at Ezra, She nodded in acceptance. “You want one?” He asked. “Only if we can take of it together..” She replied. Everyone except Kai and Ezra left to the house.

        “Why didn’t you go with them?” “Because I wanted to give you company..”
Ezra replied to Kai. “But- But you can’t come with me, I’m going to visit my mother. To her grave..” “Oh- I’m sorry Kai Chan I didn’t know..How about I wait here until you return?” She asked placing her hand on his cheek. “Yes! Don’t worry I’ll be quick.” Kai ran and she looked at his figure fading in the crowd. “Haa.. What can I do here now..” She whispered looking around.

        Wolf and Veronica walked towards Ezra’s home which was empty. Wolf had Nami on his shoulders and Veronica made him carry Momo too. “Why are we going to Ezra’s house?” “You’ll see..” “You look funny.” Veronica started laughing at him struggling to walk. “Yeah..yeah..” Said him regretting his whole decisions. Veronica stopped in front of the church which was like a dead end. “Why did you stop?” “It’s the end right?” “No.. we are going there..” Wolf pointed to the dark forest which she had never visited before. “Huh? I remember hearing it was dangerous out there..” “Who told you that?” “Raini-” She suddenly stopped. Wolf lifted her chin up and smirked staring into her silver eyes. “It maybe dangerous for someone weak as him..”

        It felt like night inside the woods. Veronica held Wolf’s shirt tightly so she won’t get lost. “You scared of heights?” “No..? why?” “Okay..you’ll see.” They walked through the quite and calm place filled with spiders and different kinds of insects. She placed her head on his back trying not to look anywhere around, Which made Wolf almost laugh out his soul. “Here we are..” Veronica slowly raised her head to see the biggest tree she had ever seen before. “Wow..” She gazed at it for a long time. “Let’s go..” “Where?” “Up there.” “He pointed up to the tree, That’s when she noticed the tree house. Her eyes glistened with happiness, “I’m glad you like it..” Whispered Wolf letting out a sigh of relief. “What?” “Nothing-Let’s go.” “WaitWho’s house is that?” “Mine of course..” She gave him that impressed look and followed him.

        “We are...Home..?” Adam and others got inside the house using the spare key and found out no one was there except a long pair of ears behind the fruits basket. “There’s something hiding behind the basket...” Adam whispered to Arthur, “I know right..” Arthur whispered back and hid behind Adam. “Yuki?” Fox called out, The pair of ears tilted sideways making two round brown eyes visible. Yuki slowly came outside and came closer as she saw Aya. She sniffed Aya and eventually sneezed at her. Which made both Aya and Yuki fall backwards. “Ahh it was just a little Fox.” Arthur came closer to touch her and Yuki gave him a death glare with a low growl. “No animals loves me..” Said Arthur leaning his head towards the corner of the room. Agnes patted his shoulders to console him holding her laughter. “I can’t wait to show Agnes him..” Adam uncovered the cloth and showed Yuki and Aya the kitten, A grey persian cat, It was so small and sleeping in his arm.

         Veronica stopped in front of the huge ladder, Wolf had already started climbing and when he looked back he couldn’t find her. He came down a few steps and offered her his hand. “Here hold it..” “I can climb myself..” She was still uncomfortable with Wolf, Wolf just shrugged and continued with his climbing. Veronica was shaking so hard as she tried to climb, Wolf already reached the top and stared down at her still struggling to climb five steps. “You sure about you’re not scared of heights?” He yelled from up the tree house. She just stood there placing her hands on her waist. “Stay there..” He said laughing. As she stood there a large wooden plank landed on the floor next to her attached to a rope from above. “Get on it, I’ll pull you up.” Said Wolf doubting his entire life decisions again.

         “Finally! Oh god you were heavy..” Said Wolf after pulling her all the way up, He laid on the ground breathing heavily for some time. “Stop being so dramatic..” scoffed Veronica kicking his legs. Momo was running around following Nami, “Look there..” Wolf made her turn around and pointed forward. “It is-” “Dangerous?” “No..It’s beautiful..” They both laughed looking at each other. She could see a small pond where many animals visited to drink water like deers, elephants and so on, She could see many birds sitting on the tree and more. “Worth the visit?” Wolf asked standing next to her. “Worth the visit.” She replied.

         “Huh that was exhausting..” Kai returned from the grave and looked around for Ezra. He wandered around in many shops, “Here you are..” He ran and held her hand, “What happened? Are you lost?” It wasn’t her. It was some other woman, He apologised and continued looking for her. He reached the other end of the market but still couldn’t find her.

        “Are you looking for the owner of this bag?” A girl came up to him and asked holding up a bag towards him. Yes. It was Ezra’s bag. He nodded, The girl’s face was covered with snood, her short hair with bangs and deep brown eyes made him think twice. “Akimi?” She threw the bag at him and removed her snood. “Listen kid, She was taken by a fancy looking person along with the royal guards. And she wanted me to tell you that she don’t want to guys to stop looking for whatever you are looking for.” She put her snood back and walked away. “Yes it was Akimi..Daughter of Hydra.”

          The house door slammed open. “What happened?” Asked Adam looking at panicked Kai’s face. “Tell us Kai..” Fox placed her hand on his shoulders, As Kai was still trying to catch his breadth. Wolf and Veronica returned home with Momo and Nami. And they gave the others a confused look, “Tell what happened Kai!” Adam tried shaking him a little bit. He raised his head and said, “Ezra..” “Yes where is she what about her? Adam sounded tensed.
