CHAPTER 9

YOU WILL PAY BACK FOR THE TEARS

            Six months ago in Miriana, “ADAM!!” Adam suddenly closed hid diary and ran his amber eyes all over sunflower garden. “Bella....you scared the life out of me.” “That’s what friends are for now don’t tell me you were writing about, Dear diary I met her in my dream again her beautiful blue eyes-” “I can hit you.” Adam chocked Bella between his elbow. “I know I know You love her a lot and can’t wait for the Lorelei people come here.” She stared at him holding her laughter. He pinched her freckled nose. The innocence her big doe brown eyes held was no joke, “Why are you here now?” Adam asked her raising his eyebrows. “You don’t know it’s school day...?” “Ah- your hair.” “Exactly.” “You are fourteen aren’t you old enough to tie your own hair?” “I’m just fourteen and why should I learn when I have a best friend like you to tie it for me.” She turned around and received a small smack on her head. “Ouch that hurts.” “Omo- I didn’t know.” He gave her that usual evil smile.

       “Did it hurt?” Ezra asked suddenly getting up from him but she slipped over him again. “Last time it was fine..but this time.” They both started laughing. They both laid on the floor facing the glass roof of the stage. “I’m begging you Ezra please don’t find a constellation.” Ezra gave him a disgusted look. They heard clapping sound from the seats behind, “Bravo! What a performance..” “Yeah yeah mind blowing.” Ezra and Adam turned to see Rainier and Veronica standing in the back still clapping.

         They both got back on their feet and wiped dirt from their clothes. “Since when you guys were staring at us?” Adam asked raising his eyebrows. “Oh honey we saw all the show.” Said Rainier with narrowed eyes. “We just wanted to ask you guys to come have food with us.” “Sure we will join you.” “Let’s go then.” Adam dragged Rainier with him and went outside to end this awkward conversation.

          Arthur returned to the palace and saw smoke coming out of his mother’s room, He rushed to the room and found guards trying to de-flame. “Arthur...” Walter placed his hand on Arthur’s shoulder. “The tribes did this..They kidnapped the blind lady.” Arthur noticed his missing finger. “Don’t worry we will catch them.” Arthur consoled Walter even though he was feeling happiness inside. “I want them all dead..” “Who the tribes?” Arthur asked, “No, along with the tribes I want your brother, And his companions dead.”  “I will try Uncle.” As Walter walked away Arthur clenched his fist. “Your life belongs to me Minister.”

       “What’s for breakfast mother?” Kai came out of the bed very late, “You mean lunch my lord..” Himari teased his son. “That will do too mother.” They both laughed. “Did father’s letter come?” “Yes, He said Miriana is nearly destroyed he have to come here soon for help.” “That’ll be great.” They noticed someone was knocking on their door, Kai was about to go open but Himari held his hand and stopped him. “Oii..What will you do if the royal guards wanted to kill us?” “I’ll protect you mother.” Kai replied with full of confidence. “No..Kai..You save yourself.” “Why?” “Because your father will need you.” “But mother why will the guards be after us? We are from the royal family of Miriana.” “That’s exactly why.” Kai and Himari exchanged glances. “Do you promise to stay safe Kai?” “But-” “Do you?” “I promise mother.” Himari knew all along that it was her last day with her son.

         The knocks on the door turned to bang. “Mother, Why are we hiding?” “Himari closed her fifteen year old son’s mouth with her hand. They could hear their front door being kicked opened. “Stay here..” Himari came out of the wardrobe and ran out of the house to distract royal guards from her son. The guards followed her, Kai came out of the wardrobe crying and followed them. Himari reached a dead end in an alley, Kai hid behind a wall still looking at his mother. “No..no” Kai whispered, they stroke her head with the gun and she fell unconscious. Kai couldn’t look at it any more.

          “What should we do to her?” A guard asked. “You caught the beautiful wife of Miriana’s minister.” This particular voice got the attention of Kai. It was Walter’s, “Kill her brutally and send her eyes, fingers and hair to Miriana.” Said Walter and walked away. A few moments later the guards walked away, Kai ran to his mothers body which was laying on the floor covered in blood. “Mother..?” Tears were flowing down his face as he saw his mother being slaughtered like an animal in front of him. She had cuts all over her body, Her head was shaved, Her fingers were cut out and her eyes were gone. Kai just couldn’t bear the sight of his mother but something which disturbed him the most was her mouth was slit to her both ears. He cried loud and louder each moment as he held his mother’s lifeless body.

         He laid down beside her body hugging her, “I’m sorry mother, For being a coward.” He pulled her head close to his chest. Even the dark clouds mourned for her washed her blood away. Kai kneeled down facing the raining clouds and yelled,“Your life is mine Walter!!”

         The Quartet reached a crowded restaurant. “It’s too crowded Adam..” Ezra whispered to Adam in fear. “The more people less we get noticed.” Rainier said as for everyone. The sat down in a table for four, Even though they were eating Adam’s eyes were on the people who have been staring at them since they got there. The crowd was fading slowly but they were not leaving. “I think we should leave.” Adam said standing up. The rest followed him outside, “What’s wrong?” Rainier asked “Turn around Rainier they will follow us till they find out where we live.” “Then mislead them..” Said Rainier and lead them to an empty alley. They turned around facing the people who were following them as they reached a dead end. Veronica noticed Kai sitting on the floor.

        “What are you doing here?” Kai asked all confused. “Stand up man this isn’t the right time.” Adam murmured to Kai. The people pulled out their weapons, “Oh-look who decided to eat at a restaurant without me.” The men made way for Arthur who came forward dragging the tip of his sword on the floor. “You are with them?” Ezra asked, Everyone was in shock too. “Pick up your weapons Everyone, wait- I noticed Adam doesn’t have one.” He took bow and arrows from the man next to him and threw it to Adam. “How could you?” Rainier pulled out this sword and Kai his daggers. Arthur started moving forward as he reached next to Adam he pulled out his knife and threw it at one of the royal guards. “You really thought?” “No we didn’t.” Wolf and Fox jumped down from the roof. “What are you two doing here? Saving you obviously..” Wolf replied to Veronica All eight of them stood there facing nearly twenty five royal guards. “Non of them returns to the palace you understand? Or our future king will be in grave danger.” Said Adam smiling at Arthur.

       “Good thing you don’t treat your guards with guns.” “First time in my life I’m glad that our kingdom won’t use guns.” An arrow passed between Adam and Arthur interrupting their conversation. Veronica caught the arrow, “Wrong person gentlemen, My father don’t believe woman belong in the kitchen.” Rainier passed one of his sword to her. In a moment the alley filled with voices of swords slashing and arrows. A guard came to strike Arthur but he blocked the attack with his sword.“You are done if the Minister finds out you are with these dogs.” “We all know who the dog is.” Arthur disarmed the guard and pierced his sword to his chest.

         “Adam he is running away.” Kai pointed at a Guard running. Adam never misses his aim, This time too he went for the leg and made him fall. Adam walked next to him and said, “I don’t like killing people from behind.” He pulled out the arrow he shot from his leg and stabbed it in his neck.

      “YOU SHOULD KNOW THE PAIN”
