CHAPTER 29

                        TROUVAILLE

          Adam sneaked into the palace through the garden. He hid behind the wall until a guard came closer to him, He grabbed the guard by his mouth and knocked him out. He wore his uniform and entered the palace. “Hey you there!” Some Guard called him from behind, He turned around not lifting his head. “You new here?” “Yes.” Adam was not scared, “Then you should guard near future king’s room.” Adam nodded and made his way towards Cyrus’s room. He checked whether he was there but he wasn’t. Adam let out a sigh of relief and entered his room, Which used to be Nolan’s.

         Wolf was struggling just to stand still, With the sword pointed at him. “We don’t need the Key Hydra, Just leave him alone.” Veronica stepped forward. “I’m afraid I can’t..” Hydra switched the sword towards her. “Why Hydra?” “You know something? You know how it feels to be abandoned in a place you don’t belong in?” “He won’t but I think I will, Mother.” The sword dropped from Hydra’s hand, She turned and went to Akimi. “What did you say?” Hydra asked grabbing Akimi’s collars. Akimi slapped the hand away, She raised her eyes straight to meet Hydra’s eyes.

          “You are not my mother aren’t you?” Hydra’s eyes started shaking, “You’re my  mother’s sister, I know. My mother was Akira..” “How-” “Let me speak! You killed my mother for this right?” Akimi pointed all around her. “You should be grateful that I didn’t kill you..” “Yes I should huh? And I am... I really am..My mother asked you to promise this before she die didn’t she?” “Who told you all this?” “Isn’t it obvious...Why you hated him so much?” Hydra pulled out her dagger and threw it at Wolf but Fox caught it before she could imagine.

         Akimi grabbed Hydra’s pearl necklace attached with the key tight and continued, “Mother...” The word scattered Hydra’s heart into million pieces. “I am glad that you kept me alive, You gave me a house to live in.., A life, a chance to meet many people like them.” Akimi smiled widely again, “I was never thankful or grateful for you, But I am grateful of some beautiful things I got because you kept me alive even thought it was for the slum.” She pulled the necklace it shattered into pieces, The pearls spread all over the ground. “The key of Black swan belongs to Wolf now.” Hydra fell on her knees tearing up.

       “Let’s go..” Akimi left with Wolf and rest of them. “You knew this kid was Akimi when we picked it up?” Agnes asked Wolf hitting his shoulders. “Of course I did that’s why I agreed on taking her.” Wolf replied with a straight face. “My brother should really stop telling stories..” Veronica Blurted out if no where and walked ahead in a lightening speed.

  
        Adam was searching hard for something, Until he felt someone else was in the room. He slowly walked back but ended up collapsing with the person. They both pulled out their sword at the same time while turning around. “Adam?” “Arthur?” They both sighed hard and slid their sword back in. “What are you doing here?” They both asked simultaneously, “I came here to meet Ezra and you?” “I came here to look for the journal..” Adam replied to Arthur. “Umm? Isn’t it weird that we are doing each others duty though?” Adam shrugged at him. “I can’t meet Ezra before I find those keys, When you see her give her this and meet me behind the garden in fifteen minutes.” Adam gave Arthur a letter. Arthur nodded and left the room.

         When Kai searched for the journal it was kept right at the table on purpose so that no one could notice and the box was kept there to distract people. Adam noticed the opened book on the table, He was going to ignore it but one particular word caught his attention. “Rainier?” He picked up the book, The cover had the star symbol. Adam went through the pages and identified it was not Cyrus’s or Nolan’s Journal, It was Rainier’s. Each plot of the key, Each traps, Ideas, It was all his. It was all made by Rainier to give his brother when he return to Lorelei. He wanted to create harmony among the people of Lorelei by distributing the keys to the most eminent locks of Lorelei. But the journal was exposed to the wrong people, They used it to imprison the people. Even Rainier.

          “I heard they-” “You don’t need to remind me..” Ezra stopped Arthur from talking. “Let me out of here before it’s late Arthur..” “Don’t worry we will.” “Now it’s time for me to leave..But before.” Arthur pulled out the letter from his pocket. “Did Adam gave this to you?” Ezra snatched the letter from his hand, Seeing her face lighten made him smile. He left the room as she was reading the letter. He had written everything that happened after she left, He even told thank you for the candles which made her laugh. “Haa..I wish I could see the Kitten too..” She mumbled to herself. She suddenly looked out of the window as the last sentence of the letter was, “Now, Look out of the window my lady..” There stood Adam behind a tree waving at her, Smiling wide. She held the letter close to her chest and they watched each other until Arthur came and they left. She looked out of the window till his figure turning around each second really faded to a distance.

        When Adam and Arthur reached home, Veronica and Agnes were cleaning Wolf’s wounds which were pretty deep. Wolf hissed each time they pressed the medicine to the wound. “What in the world happened to you?” Adam asked kneeling down next to the chair he was sitting on. “He went to fight with Slum lady and kidnapped her daughter and stole the next key.” “Oh! Shut up Derek!” Fox threw the apple she was eating at him. “I was hungry anyways..” He said shrugging with the apple in his hand. “Let me explain..” Akimi came forward, She bowed her head to Adam. “I’ve seen you do many things Prince of Miriana, Wolf saved me from my step mother and he actually won the fight and the key was the price.” Adam bowed back, “I’m glad I got to meet the next Slum head then.” He smiled at her and turned to Wolf, “Are you okay?” Wolf nodded. “We should go for the village next..” Adam Opined looking at Derek, His side smile was enough for Adam to understand his confidence in that move.

         “Where is Kai?” Fox asked to everyone, But no one knew where he was. Fox went out to search for him and found him sitting bedside the tree. “Boo!” She tried to scare him from behind but he had a very serious face and barely noticed she was there. “Oh you came?” He asked in a tone she had never heard from him. “What happened to you?” She sat beside him. “Nothing..” “Who you trying to fool?” “I- ugh okay fine you know what happened..” “It’s not a big deal Kai..” “Is she gone?” “Oh no she is gonna be with us from today..” “Great..” “Hey calm down..” Kai placed his head on her lap and closed his eyes, “Don’t move I just want to sleep.” “Okay okay..” She caressed his fluffy hair and leaned back on the tree. Derek laid on a branch above watching all this with a smile on his face.

        Veronica escorted Wolf to his room, “I am sorry for putting you in all this trouble!!” They both said together which made them laugh. “You should sleep..” Veronica helped him sit on his bed and walked out of the room, Where Adam was waiting for her. “Why are you taking so much trouble for him?” He asked straight away. “I- Just consider he made me realise who I really am Brother..” “Fine then, But don’t let people fool you twice though..” Adam patter her head and walked away. “I won’t...” She whispered. She sat down leaning on the door of Wolf’s room. On the other side of the room Wolf sat leaning on the door, With his hand touching the door. “I really shouldn’t confess how I feel to her huh?” He asked looking at Nami.
