(15 DAYS TILL PROM)You stared at your calendar, counting the days until you would have your end of the year prom. Your final senior prom. The biggest event as a senior. Besides graduation of course. Honestly, most seniors at your school seemed more excited for prom than their actual graduation. You were one of those seniors.
Prom was huge as a senior. If you showed up to prom without a date, you were a loser. You had all senior year to find a date. Girls wouldn't shut up about boys who would be a good date and boys couldn't care less. Most girls panted over the fact they would lose their virginity on prom night.
Gross...
You weren't interested. You just wanted a date. Someone to hold your hand. Someone to take photos with. Someone to slow dance with. The slow dance kiss. That's what you were shooting for. The perfect kiss. Your mom had told you about her perfect kiss on prom night.
"It was just...the most wonderous thing as a teenage girl. It's a memory you'll never lose. Even if it wasn't with your father, it still was special."
"Hey!"
"Oh shut up! You lived in another state for crying out loud!"
You smiled at the memory. As embarrassing as it was, your mom was probably your biggest wingman. She had your back in so much dating advice. She was so hyped for your senior prom. Your mom cared too much.
"I really don't deserve her..." you mumbled, chuckling as you walked away from the calendar taped up to your wall. You noticed a small note under the red writing that spelled out prom. It was writing from a pen. You recognized the messy writing.
'Literally no one cares'
"Tommy..."
Ah yes. Your best friend Tommy. Someone you've known since 1st grade. Someone who has always been on your side. Someone who has always been there for you. The same someone who hated prom.
"Oh come on! Just rub your relationships in everyone's face, why don't you?!"
You found his hatred hilarious. You were able to drag him to only one dance. It ended up sucking and he never went to another school dance ever again. You couldn't blame him. He technically wasn't wrong.
At school dances, people who were actually in relationships basically shoved it down everyone's throat. They'd dance, make out, hold hands constantly, and basically scream I love you and compliments at each other. It pissed you off. Mainly because you wish it was you. You wanted to be the one showing off your relationship. Your perfect guy. You knew exactly who you wanted to show off.
Jacob Lynions
The cutest boy in school. At least, to you he was. Girls constantly giggled over him. Girls asked him out left to right. He was super sweet. He always cared for others. You'd never forget the one time he helped you up when you tripped in the hallway.
"He's probably been on thousands of dates. I bet his body count is in the hundreds."
You remembered gushing over him to Tommy. Tommy couldn't care less. He didn't really understand why you were so obsessed with him.
"Oh come on! He's not even that cute."
He'd groan. He hated any boy you liked. Usually he'd be able to push you away from them, but something about Jacob just stuck. You weren't able to stop thinking about him. You were head over heels for him. Tommy was well aware. He definitely wasn't happy.
Speaking of Tommy, you were knocked out of your thoughts by your phone ringing. You looked to the screen.
Bestie Tom
You sighed and grabbed your phone. Hitting accept, you put the speaker up to your mouth.
"Helloooooo~?" you sung, putting the phone up to your ear to hear better.
"I swear to fucking god you better not actually be counting down to prom." Tommy's gruff voice rang from the other side of the call. You sighed.
"Tommy just let me have fun!"
"You're really going to go to prom alone?"
"Okay rude."
"Y/N we both know you'd never have the guts to ask Jacob out."
"You're right. That's why I'm going to become close enough friends with him so that he'll want to ask me. It's easier to say yes than actually ask them." you said, smirking and placing your hand on your hip. You could basically hear his judgmental expression on the other line.
"How would you know that? You've never done either."
"Fuck you! You're going alone, too!"
"Who said I was going!?" he squeaked. You rolled your eyes.
"I did. I want you to get photos of me with my prom date."
"I'm not a photographer."
"Yeah, well you're my best friend. Also I want to prove to you that I can successfully get a perfect kiss at the end of prom."
"Ew you want me to watch you kiss a bitch?"
"Okay, you made it sound creepier than it needed to be."
"Just like...get your parents to get photos and send them to me." you scoffed.
"That's so awkward! Dragging my parents along to my prom. Jacob would think I'm so lame!"
"You couldn't sound more like a basic white bitch right now."
"At this point I really don't care. Jacob has been with so many girls like that. I think it's his type."
"You're really going to change your personality just to get a guy to like you? Shouldn't he like you for you?"
"Who would like me for me?"
"Wow. Hello. I exist."
"I mean love me for me."
Tommy's end went quiet and you huffed.
"I hate you so much."
"I didn't say anything!"
"Exactly."
"So rude."
"You're just mad because you can't get a girl to go on a date with you."
"Hey! I get all the woman!"
"Women. Plural."
"Shut up. You know what! I bet I can get a girl to go to prom with me before you get Jacob to ask you!" he said. You cocked your eyebrow.
"Is this a bet?"
"Yeah. The loser owns the winner 10 bucks."
"Wow. You're cheap."
"Fuck you! 20 dollars!" you smiled and snickered.
"Fine. Deal." Without another word, Tommy hung up. You sighed and set your phone back on your desk. You looked to your calendar.
"Just 15 days..."
You had 15 days to get Jacob to ask you to prom. You paced your room a little, thinking of ways you could get closer to Jacob. Ask him to be your friend? DM him? Give him your number in a sneaky way? Ask him out? You sighed and sat on your desk, resting your head in your hands.
You leaned back and flipped onto your bed. Your eyes stayed glued to the ceiling and you groaned. You had no clue how you were going to even get Jacob's number. You weren't the best at talking to people, let alone your crush. You squeezed your eyes shut and shook your head quickly.
Just get Jacob to ask you to prom.
How hard could it be?
