(14 DAYS TILL PROM)

You walked down the school halls. Kids passed by you at almost inhumane speeds. Everyone always wanted out of school the second it ended. You stumbled back as kids' shoulders smacked into yours, knocking you back a little.

"Excuse me! Sorry! 'Scuse me! Woah!"

You stumbled around and tried to look above the sea of students. You spotted Jacob standing at his locker. You smiled and ducked a little, pushing past kids.

You pressed against the lockers as you slowly walked up to him. He hadn't noticed you yet. You took a deep breath and got even closer. Once you were standing right beside him, he noticed you. He looked to you and smiled.

"Oh hey there!" He said. You blushed and smiled awkwardly.

"H-Hi!" You cleared your throat, mentally smacking yourself for stuttering.

"I recognize you. Where have I seen you before?"

"Oh I sit by you in English." You said. A small smile tugged at the side of his lips. He snapped his fingers and nodded.

"That's where. I knew I knew you!" You giggled. The thought of Jacob remembering you made you so happy. You felt bubbles of giddiness inside you.

"Y-Yeah! Uhm...listen we...really don't hang out much and...I think you're pretty...cool! Pretty cool." You giggled awkwardly. Your face was a tomato by then.

'God I'm such an idiot...'

"Are you asking for my number?" He asked. You covered your flushed cheeks, nodding.

"I-If that's okay! I just...I really want to get to know you more. You seem like an...awesome guy." You did small finger guns, instantly regretting your choice. Jacob raised his eyebrow and a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"And you seem like an awkward girl." He chuckled, patting your shoulder. You brushed your hair back and gave an awkward giggle.

"Heh heh...yeah..." you rubbed the back of your neck. Jacob pulled his phone out.

"Here. I'll get your number and I'll send you a text." He said. You smiled and felt your heart flutter.

"O-Okay!" You hopped up onto your toes a bit before falling back onto your heel. You rocked back and forth as you recited your number to Jacob. He typed it into his phone and looked up to you. He smirked and snapped a photo of you, the sound going off. Your face turned bright red.

"Y-You took a photo of me!"

"I know. It's for your contact photo." He said, pocketing his phone.
"Duh."

"Oh..." you looked down, embarrassed. Of course it was for your contact photo. You mentally noted how much of an idiot you were and kept your focus on Jacob.

"Anyways, I'll message you soon." He said, closing his locker and walking past you. You turned and watched him walk away. You smiled to yourself and looked down to your hands which you were fumbling with. You covered your mouth and squealed a little before rushing down the hall to leave.

"I'm serious!" You squeaked, plopping down into the chair by your desk. Tommy sat on your bed. He raised his eyebrow.

"It's hard to believe you actually got Jacob's number."

"I did! When he sends me a text, I'll prove it." You huffed, crossing your arms. Tommy leaned back onto his hands.

"Well he's a simp anyways..."

"Tommy, that insult really only works if you tell him that." You snickered. Tommy crossed his arms.

"You don't want to date a simp. You want to date a big man. Like me." He pointed to himself, grinning proudly.

"You're a simp, though."

"Oi!"

You broke into laughter, Tommy's face turning red. He looked away. You couldn't see it, but he was smiling like a dork.

"I am not a simp." He said in a matter of fact way. You sighed.

"Sure...sure." Tommy went to argue, but he choked on his words and just groaned. He flopped back onto your bed and went quiet. You stretched your foot out and kicked his leg a little.

"Are you dead?"

"Yes. I can't believe you got his number."

"Well, he got my number, but yeah." You said. Tommy sat up and propped himself back up onto his hands. He gave you a sort of judgmental look.

"So...you don't even have his number?"

"I will once he texts me." You said, grabbing your phone and leaning back into your seat.

"What if he doesn't text you?" He asked. You paused and looked up to him.

"What do you mean?" You asked.

"I mean...what if he just doesn't text you. Then how will you get his number—?"

"Why would he not text me?" You cut him off. Tommy's eyebrows furrowed a little and he shrugged.

"I don't know. What if?"

"You're a jackass Tommy." You said, rolling your eyes. Tommy laughed, his voice cracking as he did so. The kind of laugh that helped lighten the mood. You smiled a little yourself and giggled.

"What?" You asked, toning your laughing down a little.

"I can't handle serious situations! You looked so pissed!" He laughed, holding his stomach. You reached over and smacked the back of his head.

"Oh shut up!" You groaned. While Tommy was laughing, you couldn't help but go over what he had said to you.

'What if he doesn't text you?'

Your eyebrows furrowed a little. Why would he not text you. You gave him your number. He said he would. You closed your eyes and sighed.

Tommy's just being an idiot
