Hours went by, a few movies watched. It was 11:00. The prom ended at 10:30. That was as late as the school could hold the students there. You were still in your prom dress and full makeup. You had been careful eating pizza, making sure to not get it on yourself our make a mess. You had smudged your lipstick off a little, but it was barely noticeable.

You watched cheesy romance chick flicks and to your surprise, you didn't cry. You reminded yourself to be patient. Like your dad said, you'll find someone you love very soon. A part of you believed in that.

And as if right on cue, the doorbell rang. You looked over and sighed. Your parents were out on a "staycation". Why were they back? You opened your door and froze.

Tommy stood there, suit and all. He was fumbling with his hands and looking around. He heard the door open and he looked over. He looked you up and down and his face turned bright red. He smiled at you.

"You look amazing." He said, rubbing the back of his neck. You looked around outside and invited him it.

"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be out with your date?"

He shrugged and sat on the couch. You closed the door and walked over, sitting beside him.

"The bet was to ask a girl out and get her to say yes. Didn't mean I had to like her." He said. You scoffed.

"That's just mean, Tom."

"What? She's not who I have feelings for. Plus, she told me the same. We just sort of...went platonically. Still counts! 20 dollars. Up top." You rolled your eyes and stood, going to grab cash from the kitchen.

"You're a literal gremlin, you know that?" You sighed, grabbing a spare twenty and handing it to him. He grinned and shoved it into his pocket.

"I know. But you love me~" you sat beside him again and rolled your eyes.

"Sadly, yes." You sighed, ignoring the small blush on your face. Tommy noticed your phone was open and casting to the tv. He took your phone and typed something into YouTube. You looked to the screen and saw a video pop up.

"One hour of slow dance music?" You scoffed. He smiled and stood, reaching out for you.

"May I have this dance~?" He said in a posh voice. You blinked and snickered.

"Why did you say it like that?" You asked. He blinked.

"I was trying to do it like they do in the movies you like." He said. You rolled your eyes.

"What makes it special is they say it their way. From the heart." He paused.

"Would you like to go boogey on the dance floor with big man Tommy?" You snorted in laughter and he chuckled as well. You took his hand in yours and stood with him.

"I would love to."

The music playing was in fact the same cheesy slow dance music they played at proms. You loved it. The speakers connected to your tv made it echo around the room perfectly.

Tommy, still holding your hand, turned off the lights and left the lamp by the couch on for dim lighting. He stood with you in the middle of the living room. His hands rested on your waist and yours rested on his shoulders. You smiled fondly up to him, a light blush on your face. He returned the look, gazing at you like you were the most perfect girl he's ever seen in his life. He chuckled nervously and looked away for a second. He was totally staring and you caught it.

"Y/N...this is a better time than anything to tell you that I came back to have our own prom for a reason. I...I need you to know that I love you. I have for a while now. I just...I wanted to take you to prom, but really I'd rather just have it here with you. Just us alone, no one around to judge or stare. The perfect moment you dreamed of and talked about a lot..." he chuckled softly, "just for the two of us to enjoy."

You felt tears well your eyes and you smiled so much your cheeks hurt. This was perfect. Way better than in a gym with people you didn't like. Just you two, attention on each other and able to move freely. Not worrying about getting lost in each other's eyes.

"I love you, too Tommy...I'm so glad you came back for me." You said. He looked down to his feet before looking back up to you.

"Yeah, well if I didn't I would never have a slow dance to actually enjoy." He chuckled. You grinned and leaned forward. Your head rested on his chest and your arms wrapped around over his shoulders. He rubbed your back softly and you two continued to sway together.

"Y/N." He finally spoke up as the song began to die down. You pulled away and looked up to him, your bodies still pressed close together.

"Hm?"

"I didn't get the "perfect slow dance kiss" with the girl." He said. You raised your eyebrow.

"Really? Tommy that would've been your real prom kiss." You giggled. He shrugged.

"I'd rather have my first kiss with a beautiful girl I really care about." He said. His eyes flicked to your lips and back to your eyes. You smiled softly and moved one of your hands from his shoulders to his face, gently brushing his blonde, soft, puffy hair out of the way. He slowly pulled you closer and you leaned in.

Your lips met his in a kiss. Your eyes were fluttered shut, your eyebrows raised a little in slight surprise as you leaned into the kiss. His lips were surprisingly softer than you thought. Your hand rested on his chest. One of his hands were gripping your arm gently and the other on the small of your back. And you two stayed like that for as long as you could, the music fading off behind you.

It finally happened. You got your perfect prom kiss that you always dreamed of.

And it was with your best friend.
