(6 DAYS TILL PROM)You had gone to school the next day, of course. You were unsure if you wanted to confront Jacob or not. You had spent the other day talking to Tommy about what to do once you woke up.
Just talk to him! Explain what happened.
You sighed, your breath shaky as you walked. You spotted Jacob at his locker and you walked over to him. As you walked, something was dragging you back. You didn't want to talk to him for some reason.
You tried to press the thoughts away as you walked to him. You didn't want your mood to get bitter. You just wanted to fix things with Jacob and go to prom with him. Was that too much to ask?
You then found yourself stop walking all together. Reya walked up behind Jacob and she wrapped her arms around him, pressing her face to his back. He laughed and turned, ruffling her hair. Reya stepped up beside him and he put his arm around her. You took a few steps back.
In only two days...two fucking days...he already found someone else!?
You thought, your shoulders raising a little in anger. You hugged your arms and glared at the two from afar, slowly taking steps back. Reya looked over and your eyes met. She smirked and looked back to Jacob.
You felt rage boil up inside you. He had already found someone else. How could he have already found someone else? Did he really not care?
You turned and walked the other way as fast as you could. You darted through the halls, rushing past kids at a very quick pace. You didn't care if kids were staring at you or telling you to watch out. You had a class to be to anyway.
Running past people, you could see your class in the distance. You sped up a little. You just wanted to get to class and forget everything. You wanted to the school day to end. You wanted to go home, curl up in bed, and cry your eyes out.
You were so close. You were about to walk into class before someone grabbed your arm and pulled you back. You hit their chest, squeaking and trying to shove them away.
"H-Hey!" You looked up and saw Tommy looking down at you. He looked concerned. You couldn't blame him. Your mascara was running down your face by then.
"Why are you crying?" He asked. You sniffled and wiped your eyes, looking away.
"Just let me go to class. Please." You begged. You continued to try and pull yourself away from him. Tommy had a tighter grip than you expected.
"Wha—no no! You can't go to class crying with makeup down your face." He said. You looked up to him and finally just shoved your face into his chest, gripping his shirt as you hid in his embrace.
"I-I wanna go home..." you mumbled. Tommy sighed and he brushed your face.
"You already skipped yesterday..." he sighed. You let out a whine and only hugged him tighter. You could feel Tommy's heart beat faster against your face.
"Can I at least skip first period..?" You asked.
"Y/N—"
"You were the one who told me I couldn't go to class in the first place!" You looked up to him. He looked away and sighed.
"Well...I mean..." he paused, trying to think of what to say. You hugged him again. The sound of the school bell ringing filled your ears and the halls soon fell silent. Tommy began to walk, taking you with him.
"Here. Let's go somewhere where we won't get in trouble." He said. You followed with no argument.
You walked with Tommy outside of the school. There was a nice pathway behind the school that you often went to when you were tired or had nothing else to do.
You kept your eyes to the ground as you walked. The dirt softly crunched as your feet dragged on the ground. Your hands swayed softly at your sides as you walked. It was quiet. A comfortable silence, though.
Your eyes trailed up as you looked to Tommy. You assumed he could sense your eyes on him because he eventually looked over to you. You wanted to give a reassuring smile to him, but you couldn't. Both of you knew something was wrong. There was no point in faking that it was okay.
"So, what happened?" He asked. You looked forward to the path ahead of you.
"Jacob is dating Reya now...already..." you said. Tommy scoffed and he shook his head.
"Of course. I told you—"
"I know!" You cut him off. Tommy went quiet. Silence fell over you two again. You sighed and ran a hand through your hair.
"I'm sorry...I'm just...out of all people! It of course had to be Reya. She hates my guts!" You looked up to Tommy, "You win the bet."
Sighing, you went to dig into your pocket for your wallet that you kept on you. Tommy stopped you and you two stopped walking.
"Y/N, I didn't win yet. I still need to ask a girl out." You looked up to him and raised your eyebrow.
"Do you...have someone in mind?" He paused and looked away.
"Uh...I do! I'm asking them the day of." You scoffed into laughter and shook your head.
"Tommy, that's not the best idea. She'll have a date by then." You said. Tommy laughed and he blushed, shrugging.
"I-I know! I know...but I really want her to find someone better before she'll have to settle for me." He said. You blinked, taken aback. Tommy's never said something like that before. Being the 'big man' himself, using the word settle wasn't in his vocabulary a lot.
"What?" He simply shrugged and gave you a small smile.
"You don't have to pay me until prom." He chuckled. You smiled a little.
"That is if you get a date to prom." You gasped and punched your arm lightly.
"Bitch! She had no choice but to say yes. All women love me!" There was the old Tommy. You were still processing his almost break in character before.
Why did he say the girl he liked would be settling for him? If anything, that girl would be so lucky to have him. Why did his mood completely change right after?
What stuck in your mind the most was one specific question.
Why were you so upset that he had his eyes on another girl?
