Chapter 21: 𝐕𝐬. 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐫𝐜

"You ready to face them?" Gojo spoke when Noroi stood up from her seat, the two of them still chilling on the cliff eating sweet stuff for the past three hours.

"Not sure but if I make it tomorrow who knows what will happen to Megumi. There's already one unstable and I already took that spot. I don't need someone having the same position with me" Gojo laughed standing up, patting his trousers.

"You know" Gojo started the two of them walking back to the school instead of warping themselves back there. "I'm curious" he mumbled placing his hands behind his head.

"You've been curious about a lot of things so I'm not shocked about that" Noroi sighed combing her messy hair. "I know" he chuckled smiling, looking at the dark sky field with stars.

"How did you manage to get yourself tangled with them?" Noroi doesn't need to ask who "them" he's pertaining to. "Keep getting myself in trouble, fighting people because of how annoying they are. Accidentally walked through a kidnap transaction in some warehouse and was forced to save an old man that made them all indebted to me. And that's how I managed to tangle myself with shady people" Noroi explained as short as she can.

"The most important thing is I am benefiting with it" she whispered. "Wealth... Power... Status... Fame... I'm receiving those because of what I am doing" Gojo glanced at her and Noroi has a blank expression on her face, eyes staring in front of them not sparing him a glance.

"That's dangerous"

"Life is dangerous... Life is a challenge and it's up to us on how we are going to take that challenge" she stated now looking at him. "Don't start with me... We've made a deal back at the villa, Gojo" sighing he looked back to the sky.

"Then why are you doing this?"

'Do you know something I don't know or you're playing, acting like you don't know something?'

"Nevermind"

'Even if I asked you about it will you even tell me the truth?'

"Just be careful"

"I'm always careful, Gojo" Noroi grumbles her eyes glancing at him. "Just reminding it knowing how reckless you can be" he chuckled smiling still looking to the sky.

The two arrived back at the school and Gojo left first, saying he needs to train Yuji more because soon he'll receive his first mission before the goodwill event starts. Of course, Gojo didn't forget to hype her up before he leaves and it wasn't helpful.

"Ah damn this nerves" Noroi mumbles rubbing her neck, her nails grazing her skin. "Let's take a depressant first" she sighed taking out the cigarette packet from her pocket.

"Glad there's still one left" taking it out and throwing the pack on the bin she placed the stick between her lips. Pulling out the lighter she lit it up taking a drag.

The bitter taste contrast of the sweetness she just ate coated her bud, easing up her nerves.

'I wonder which one will kill me first? My addiction, my job, or being unstable?'

Noroi thought blowing out the smoke tiredly. The wind blows, making her hair fly covering her vision, and when it died down, her hair dropping she stared at the figures standing meters away in front of her.

'Yeah it's probably him'


"What should we do? Will Noroi go missing again for days?" Nobara asked their group, walking out of the building after finishing their dinner. "If she will she's probably safe. She was away for almost a week and came back in one piece" Maki sighed fixing her glasses.

"Tuna Mayo?" 'So we're going to witness him being gloomy again?' They winced and look at the silent gloomy boy that's been silent since he finished explaining things to them.

Panda gestured them and they quietly approached still keeping an eye on Megumi just in case he disappeared like a certain someone.

"Do you think Noroi-chan is related to the Yakuza?" Panda whispered. "That's impossible well it's possible but Noroi knows what danger lies in joining that group" Maki grumbles. "Joining something like that will make the group hold your dear ones to have you by your neck. But as I can see Noroi isn't the type to let someone leash her. I don't see her as the type of person listening to orders" Nobara added.

"Salmon. Tuna. Tuna Mayo" 'The way they begged her to spare their lives seems like a person who isn't leashed. They address her with sama so she probably has high status or profile in the group' Inumaki explained.

"Should we ask Megumi what organization—" Panda wheeze after receiving a jab from the side. "One of the rules in a situation like that never mentions the group! Don't you watch movies or read books?!" Maki hissed and he swings his paw on her.

"I am a panda I don't like reading books!" Nobara quickly pulled Maki away and Inumaki quickly stopped Panda. They shivered except for Panda when a cold wind blew.

"Hey, it's Noroi" Panda commented. All of them staring at her figure and they don't know what to react to seeing her smoking. Glancing at Megumi the boy isn't showing any emotions making them sweatdrop.

"Noroi smokes?"

"Obviously"

They stayed in their lane watching Megumi approach her. "If they fight you all know what to do right?" They nodded their heads.

Noroi took one last drag before pulling out the stick and putting off the fire. She threw the almost finished cigarette in the bin and looked at the sky exhaling the smoke out, then looking in front of her.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah"

"No urge to go for someone's head"

"Yeah"

"On the scale of one to ten how okay you are?"

"Probably 5"

The others sweatdrop at the question and answer portion the two are having.

"Do you know what you did?"

"Beat people to death and almost got one killed if you didn't arrive with the others"

"Does she have any plans to kill her?" Nobara whispered. "Probably not. Noroi just got blinded by her anger towards that girl" Maki answered.

"Don't you regret it?"

"No... I never regret a single thing I did to them" Noroi firmly stated. Megumi narrows his eyes on her and with a shake of his head, he sighed loudly. "I'll let this matter slide because it was that person's fault. But the next time you did something like this I won't keep quiet about it" Noroi nodded her head making mental notes to be extremely careful from now on.

"Also take a bath you're reeking of tobacco" Megumi scowls glaring at her. "If I caught you smoking again I'll fucking shove the cigarette together with the pack and lighter down your throat" he threatened, turning his back on her.

'Ah I feel threatened with that empty threat'

"Let's go back to the dorm" rubbing her head he followed him and glanced at the others. "Sorry for making you all see something unsightly" before they can reply to her words her shadow swallowed the two of them.


My eyes fluttered open and I adjusted my eyesight. Pulling away from Megumi I rubbed my eyes and took my phone resting on the nightstands.

"Mhmm" picking up the pillow that fell on the floor I carefully gave it to Megumi making him hug it. With a scowl, I went to my realm and answered the call.

"You must have a good reason why you woke me up at 2 in the morning disturbing my slumber" I scowl brushing my hair. [I'm sorry but something happened] hearing the worriedness in his voice made me click my tongue.

"Where are you going to pick me up?" I stood up. [Someone is already waiting for you outside the school barriers down the mountain] ending the call I focus on imagining the location and the place change.

I stared at the shadow and sighing loudly I stepped out of the realm.

"Greetings... Hail to the—"

"I told you to stop greeting me in that way" I groaned rubbing my temples. "Pardon my rudeness but I simply just cant greet you in such an informal way" I sighed and walked to the car I haven't held the door handle when he opened it for me. "Thanks" I mumbled getting inside the car.

"Would you like to eat or drink something first?"

"Let's just go on a drive-thru in McDonald"

"Understood"

It was a quiet journey to the destination after buying some food and drinks.

"Ogawa, the fuck is happening shouldn't you be resting right now instead of working your ass? I didn't even give you a pain in the ass today" I started when I saw him after we arrived at the location. "Well new pain in the ass suddenly appeared" he groaned taking a drag of his cigarette.

"Follow me" of course I don't have any choice but to follow him inside the building. "One of my men stumble upon someone something? I don't know what it is called. It looks bizarre and very weird"

"Cursed spirits"

"No it's not well it seems like but cursed spirits cant be seen, right?"

"Well, technically it can't be seen by normal people unless they met the circumstances of it" I answered eating the nuggets. "Well, this one how can I say this?" He muttered looking so problematic.

"Why are you having a hard time explaining shits? You know I should be at the school sleeping right now instead of sneaking out while doing something dangerous again. Megumi will throw a tantrum once he found out I'm gone" I mumbled accepting the mcflurry from him and eating it.

"Well this cursed spirit or whatever this is" we entered the room everyone standing up and composing themselves.

"Greetings, Noroi-sama!"

"Got caught on camera" I frowned and stared at the figure laying on the cold metal bed. Pulling out my phone I went to the camera and pointed it at the figure and frowned more seeing it's visible.

"Is it dead already?"

"Yes. It's dead when my men retrieved it. Thankfully it was my people who found it first instead of the other department" Ogawa sighed sitting on a bench. Finishing my dessert I gave it to him and approached the figure.

"Knife" I felt an object in my hand. Tucking the strands behind my ear I tightly held the knife and in quick motion I sliced which seems to be the chest and the abdomen of this spirit.

"Blood is red" I frowned and used the knife to open up the body. "But it seems like this is not an actual cursed spirit" I mumbled plunging the knife dragging it, the sickening cracks of bone echoing in this room.

"Then what it is" I stabbed it and raised it up. "It's a human" I can see the complete surprise in their faces staring at the heart. "I don't know how a human turn out like this but I can tell it's a doing of a cursed user or not there's a spirit probably a special grade that can alter the human figure or turn them into a cursed spirit" I explained dropping the knife on the body accepting the towel from him wiping my hands.

"Is there someone suspicious lurking around?" I accepted the coke float and taking a sip. "Well, there's a lot of suspicious-looking people so I can't tell which one" Ogawa muttered holding his chin.

"Noroi-sama, how about the suspicious-looking person that was seen lurking around Kawasaki city?" One of the people chimed. "That person seems like a hobo because he's living in the summer there's no way he can travel from there to here" one commented and I pursed my lips.

"Dirty greyish blue hair, dark blue eye and grey eye, a black shawl that seems ragged, and skin resembling a corpse and last patchwork in the face. Find someone with that description" I titled my head.

"Tamotsu"

"Understood, Noroi-sama" we all watched him leave the room. "Who the hell even is that person?" Ogawa asked frowning at me.

"Ami said there was someone suspicious looking lurking around the only description I got is the person having mismatched eyes and stitches on the face. Luckily I came across with that person" he splutters.

"We just made a prolonged eye contact that's all. And it was my first time seeing a very humanish looking cursed spirits"

"Wait cursed spirit? Not curse user?" I nodded my head opening the cap to eat the ice cream. "Oh so that explains why you sent him out to hunt him" he mumbled.

"He will likely go to scout and get information. Because my order was to go find someone with that description not kill or hunt someone down with that information" I finished my drink and throw it into the bin.

"Let's go home" I order giving the corpse one last glance before the two of us left the room.


"Noroi, are you going to train?"

"No. I'm tired I want to rest" luckily I safely arrived back at the school unluckily Megumi was awake when I arrived back at the room. Thankfully I already came up with a lie for that and that's waking up to take a shit.

"You sure you're going to rest not doing something shady behind my back?" He asked raising an eyebrow at me. "Yeah yeah I'm going to take a rest and not doing something like sneaking out of the school. It's sunny right now, do you really expect me to get out of my place while the sun is mad?" I mumbled eating taiyaki.

"Don't get yourself in trouble, Noroi" I waved my hand at him and sighed in relief when he closed the door.

Let's just sleep so we have the energy to spare later

Finishing the taiyaki I stood up to get a drink on my small fridge. Opening the cap of soda I looked at the glass hearing a bird pecking it. Finishing the drink and disposing of it I approached the glass. Pulling the curtain I stared at the bird who stopped pecking the glass.

Noticing something in its leg I sighed and opened the door. It flew and raising my arm it landed on it. Taking the letter it's carrying I read its contents.

What should I do with this cursed spirit? It seems like if his hand touches people they'll turn to get disfigured. I just witnessed how he just disfigured three students in a cinema.

"What a very traditional way to communicate with me" I mumbled burning the letter. "Noroi-sama" I flinched and the bird flew away landing on the lamp I glared at it.

"I'm sorry for startling you" I grimace and holding the crow I delivered the two of us to my realm. "Don't talk through the bird. If someone found out there's a talking crow they'll get startled and worse interrogate me why I have a talking bird" I scowl letting it go and watching it flap its wing, landing on the lamp again.

"A student can see the cursed spirit and there talking. He's not killing the student. I can't hear their conversation because I am hiding" I crossed my arms and frown. "Well, that students will eventually die in the end. Cursed spirits are cunning as humans. There's no way that cursed spirit will let that person live" I muttered tapping my fingers in my arms.

"It looks like the authorities have arrived"

"Ogawa?"

"No. Just the normal authorities"

"Just watch them and if anything seems suspicious report it back to me" we went out of the realm and I opened the glass window. "Do not engage without my order, Tamotsu" I reminded and the crow nodded its head.

"Understood, Noroi-sama" I watched it fly away, and sighing I closed the door and pulled the curtain. Dropping my body to the bed I dozed off.

I woke up hearing someone knocking on my door. "The fuck do you need? I'm sleeping and you're disturbing my sleep" I growled glaring at the door.

"Noroi-chan, wakey wakey—"

"State your business so I can go back to sleep" I scowl opening the door. "You should say good luck to Yuji-kun!" He grinned and my scowl disappear and now was replaced by a frown.

"He's going to get his first mission! He needs to see the source of his strength his—"

"Stop saying disgusting things and let's go" I mumbled taking my phone and wallet and a hood inside the cabinet. "Tell Megumi you're kidnapping me for today so he won't scold me once I got back" he giggled and I grimace when he wrapped his arms around my shoulder pulling me close to him.

"Don't worry I got your back, bestie" I rolled my eyes and he warped us too somewhere. He left my side and warped away. Wearing my hoodie I entered the room and frown not seeing Yuji around but another old man.

"Who are you?" We both asked our faces frowning.

He looks familiar but where have I seen him?

"Where the fuck are the idiots—"

"ROI!" I almost stumbled down when a body collided with my back. "Roi, I miss you!" I gave him an annoyed glare which he returned by grinning at me brightly.

"Tsk miss you too" I mumbled and he laughed be from behind swaying our body and resting his chin on my shoulder. But it didn't last long because he pulled away probably because there's a new adult which I hope it's really an adult in front of us.

"Guys! I like you to meet my best friend!" I frowned and stared at the man whose face is clearly showing his distaste at the statement he said. "Sorry I can't be there this time. But I've brought a reliable protégé to take my place! Office worker drop out, sorcerer Nanami!" Gojo-sensei exclaimed beaming happily.

"Please don't call me that"

Oh, he's a mood but Nanami?

"They're a lot of weirdos among jujutsu sorcerers. But Nanami here's a former office worker, so he's reliable" Gojo explained. "Yeah there's really a lot of weirdos here" I mumbled glancing at Gojo and Yuji before settling my eyes at Nanami.

Ah now I remembered

"Sunglasses... People here like to hide their eyes. Dropout, why didn't you start as a jujutsu sorcerer?"

"Why don't we introduce ourselves? Nice to meet you, Itadori and Roi?"

"Oh. Right. Nice to meet you too"

I sighed and pulled my hood down his eyes turning wide. "That explains why your name sounds familiar. It's been so long since we last saw each other, Noroi"

"Likewise you aged more than the last time I saw you, wasn't it a year ago since we last saw each other? You look more depressing than I am" he sighed loudly and Gojo giggled Yuji looking at us back and forth.

"Let me guess you didn't remember me when you first came here"

"Please don't talk like you didn't just ask me who I was" I grumble. "Well, I have my reason. I can't see your face clearly because of your hood and hair that is covering your eyes" he explained sighing again.

"What I learned at Jujutsu high is that jujutsu sorcerers are idiots,"

"True" I agreed, eyeing the duo. "And what I realized while at the office is that working is idiotic. So, I took the lesser of two evils. Nothing more, nothing less" I nodded my head agreeing with him, seeing the reason why I'm here matched him.

"He's so gloomy"

"I know right reminds me of a certain ball of gloominess"

I started at the two blankly. "Itadori, though Gojo and I think differently. I trust him and have faith in him" I grimace when I saw sparkles in him. "But I don't respect him" Nanami added, Gojo's sparkled disappearing with that comment.

"Wha?!—"

"I'm not a fan of the way things are run, but I follow the rules, sorry for rambling" I nodded my head agreeing with his statement. "For that reason... I don't acknowledge you as a jujutsu sorcerer" I stopped and stared at him and shrugged my shoulder understanding his reason.

"Prove to me that you can be useful. In spite of the demon Sukuna inside of you," my mind suddenly took a memory jump from the past.

"I don't acknowledge you as a jujutsu sorcerer"

"Who said I wanted to be a shitty sorcerer fucking goggles"

I shake my head to get rid of those and sighed. "I'm weak and useless. I've been hearing a lot of that these days" my eyes twitched and raised my hand ready to smack the leaving shit out of him when he spoke again.

"But I'll become strong. If I don't then I won't be even able to choose the way I die. I won't be able to protect the people I care especially the person I love. I'll be sure to prove you wrong, so just have a little, patience, okay?"

"Be sure to tell the authorities not me"

"O-Okay"

"Let's go. See you when I managed to see you again, Noroi"

"See ya"

"Where's my see you?"

Nanami ignored Gojo making him pout. "Yuji" he looked at me beaming with positivity. Sighing I pulled him to me and kissed his cheeks. "Be careful" I whispered.

"I'll be careful, honey" he softly said smiling at me. "You should be" he chuckled and kissed my forehead. "Itadori, let's go" Nanami announced coming back inside the room.
