Ode to Puramdara

Fear stands in front of you
Before the door to your victory
Guarding it with cunning and confidence
Red as Rage and Green as Envy.

A hundred warriors fall to Fear's feet
When they see the face of the dreadful demon,
They crumble to dust and flee for their lives
But there, I see you, standing alone with a smirk.

The shine of your face rivals a thousand Suryas
The lips so red reminding me of betel nuts
Eyes sharp and black like of a Raven wise
Your instincts the blessing of Garuda's might.

You are unafraid
But your courage misunderstood
Often you are doomed to just a mass of grey matter
With no virtue and no truth.

You are unafraid
But your ambitions misunderstood
Often the twisted world makes you wonder
How it's all a double-edged sword.

But, you are unafraid
Not conceited!
As you see Fear growling at you
You bow with a slight smile
There's determination in your gait
Your thunder bolt ready to make Fear insane!

To respect oddities, I learn it from you
To rise from the ashes of dead vices, I learn it from you
To be the owner of beauty and virtue, I seek it from you
To be a Rājan in every way, I learn it from you.

To the potent and the one with potential
To the gem of the Daevas
To the best of Asuras
To the Sachipati,
To the Lord of Rains and Thunder

I offer my respect to you, Indradaeva
The hero named Puramdara!
