Before Fred was able to lead Gabe into his office, he was interrupted by a static sound.
"Sir March, we have an emergency," it said. The static makes it sound fuzzy.
Sir March picked up what looks like a walkie-talkie and responded to the emergency call. "What is it? It better be something worth my time. We just caught a minor over here." Everyone looked tentatively at Sir March. His expression turned grave. "I'll send backup, and tell Commander Matthew to send out some of his teams too. No one must find out. I fear the worst if the words got out."
"What is it?" Fred asked worriedly.
"Prince Harvey was reported missing this morning. He had a hologram of himself in the palace. It seems to have fooled most of the guards for several days. I must go now sorry to keep this meeting brief. Keep me updated on any discoveries." And with that, Sir March pressed a series of buttons on his walkie-talkie and teleported away.
Later that night in the boys' room. The boys were discussing an excuse for skipping school. Obviously, they can't just say that they were saving an innocent family in the middle of the ocean from some dude that has the power to hold a lightning bolt in his hand. They would think that they were crazy.
"I got it! I'll scramble any security camera's footage showing both of us that day and we'll just say that we've been in school the entire time."
They came to school the next day but to their surprise, nobody in their class took notice of their arrival. They were all crowding around Tessa.
"Hey, what's up over there?" Gabe asked as everyone turned their heads in unison to look at Gabe and Trevor. The expressions on their faces were very mixed. Most of them stared closely at the studying each and every detail.
"Hey! That boy has that white hair just like the photo!" one of the kids exclaimed when the rest murmured in agreement.
"Believe me now? I knew there was something strange about these two. No one joins the school in the middle of the year. I've been trying to figure out an explanation and I finally have all the information I need," Tessa said as she held out a newspaper article. The headline reads, "Two unidentified figures saved a family." and just below that, there was a large pixilated picture picturing Trevor and Gabe mid-swing in midair.
"I thought you said that you scrambled the footage?" Gabe mumbled through gritted teeth.
"It must've been captured through someone's cell," Trevor mumbled back.
Apparently, Tessa must've noticed the boys communication because she later added sarcastically, "It was such a coincidence that I caught Gabe and Trevor running off the same day that this article was published. Not!"
Gabe's pupil dilated. He could feel his heart pounding hard in his chest. He wanted to say something to contradict Tessa's statement but no words came out.
"That's impossible," Trevor came to his rescue saying it so calmly that Gabe thought if he were one of the other classmates hearing this news, he would've totally believed the words coming out of Trevor. Gabe blew out a breath he didn't know he was holding up. He was so relieved.
"Then where were you?" Tessa challenged confidently.
"We were in class," Trevor answered.
"Impossible, I had the same classes as you that day and I didn't see you in class," She smirked.
Trevor was about to answer when Mrs Tary came into class. Everyone fumbled back into their seats.
"Sorry, I'm a bit late today. Let's get on with our lesson, shall we? Now, where did I-"
"Mrs Tary, can you check yesterday's attendance record? I think there might be two students who might have skipped school yesterday," Tessa interrupted. She turned towards Gabe and Trevor and said something in a soft whisper barely audible but the boys knew what she said clearly. "You are so busted."
