Trevor went over to the window to see if he could open it to get out. He swore under his breath when he noticed the window having no hinge. He was going to have to wait it out until Tessa left.

He pressed his face against the door attempting to eves drop on their conversation but it was no use. He couldn't make up a single word they were saying. He just heard muffled voices. Slowly, the voices became more distinct. "Crap, they're coming towards this room." As quick as lightning, he scrambled under the bed.

"Yea, I'll go get my textbook. I think I left it in my room somewhere."

Trevor saw a pair of feet walking in.

"I can't seem to remember where I left it." Trevor heard Maddison say.

"Want me to help you?" He saw another pair of feet walking in.

"No, it's fine. I think it fell under my bed."

As soon as Maddison saw Trevor she yelped and immediately covered her mouth to stop any more sounds from coming out of it.

"What is it?" Tessa screamed back.

"A-a-a, spider!" Maddison hesitated coming up with an excuse.

Tessa screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Quickly, umm, get me my insect spray!"

Tessa ran out of the room and Maddison immediately locked her door right behind her. "What were you thinking?" Maddison said under gritted teeth. Trevor gave a nervous shrug. Maddison sighed. "Ugh, ok, on my cue, get out from under there and away from here as fast as you can. I'll see you in school."

The door handle started moving. "Get back under the bed." Maddison shoved Trevor back into his hiding spot. She unlocked the door and made up some excuse on why her room door was locked. She took the insect spray and aimed it under the bed.

Tessa was right behind Maddison. Trevor bit his lip hoping that Tessa wouldn't see him. Then, out of nowhere, Maddison screamed, "It moved! They're behind you!"

"Where?" Tessa screamed back as Maddison manoeuvred her spray to spray it right at Tessa's face. She screamed some more both out of sheer fear and agony as some of it got into her eye.

Maddison made eye contact with Trevor. Trevor took that cue to scramble out of the bed and ran as fast as he could. The last thing he could hear before he exited the house was the sound of Maddison apologizing.

"It has been two hours Mrs Tary. Can I go now?" Gabe whined.

"It has only been 15 minutes." Mrs Tary looked up from her marking stack and replied.

"I can't believe this. This is such a waste of time."

"Well, you should have thought of that before violating the school rules."

Gabe groaned and slumped back in his chair. Mrs Tary returned to marking her papers.
