NATALIE

I put the paper in a transparent file and approached the director's assistant

Director Mr. Steven Richman opened the door and greeted me with enthusiasm. He invited me to his room and sat in the chair opposite me, not in his chair. He did this only when special guests came. Now he tried to do his best to make me feel good too.

"Natalie, I hope everything is fine," he said. ˝Do not rush to come back to the work, you can return to whenever you want, we just want you to be good and strong˝

I waited for Mr. Richman to finish his speech. Then, without saying a word, I put my resignation on the table. Without taking the application, he raised his eyebrows at the same table and saw the title of the application for dismissal. Then he looked at me upside down without saying anything.

"Mr. Richman, I'm very sorry, I know it was a little sudden," I said. I was very ashamed; my cheeks were burning.

"Natalie, I would not expect such a decision from you," he said. his words embarrassed me even more. every second I spent in the room seemed like torture to me.

˝Sorry Mr. Richman, but this is the right thing for me right now. I can't focus on my career or my job here right now, and I don't think I can focus on that for long. It is also unethical to disrupt your job by filling a vacancy. It would be better for you to hire someone else to continue your work"

"It was ethical to give such a decision without asking me, right?"

The question puzzled me; I did not know what to say.

He took my application from me without taking his eyes off me and divided it into two parts. ˝I understand you are going through difficult times. I give you as much time as you want, but at the moment, your departure from my company is not a good decision for me and for you as well."

I did not know what to say. In fact, before coming to the company, I thought completely differently. It seemed to me that the management of the company was thinking about my resignation and replacing me. They just can't tell me that and they are waiting for me to write my application. But I was really glad it wasn't. When I came to the company, all the way I was already thinking about how and where to find a job.

As I left the room, I saw Sabina, the assistant director of the human resources department, talking excitedly to one of her colleagues. As soon as they saw me, they suddenly stopped talking. Mrs. Sabina crossed her arms, looked at me with an interesting soft smile, and shook her head. "Welcome," she said. But for some reason, it sounded like "prostitute" to me.

"Thank you very much," I said, put my bag in my hand, and hurried to the stairs. I turned left to take the elevator 2 floors upstairs so I wouldn't have to face anyone, especially my department. Everyone greeted me warmly and walked past me. A few feet away, my co-workers ignored me and changed lanes.

I was out of breath. It was as if I had entered society naked. I threw myself on the sidewalk. I quickly turned on the tap and splashed cold water on my face several times. Then I caught my stomach. I threw myself into one of the open cabinets. I clung to the edges and returned the coffee I had drunk in the morning. I was trying to breathe praying for the pain in my stomach to go away.

I held my breath when I heard the toilet door open. I waited for them to stop and walk away. Then, as soon as they came out, I planned to run to the elevator and throw myself out of the building where I had once spent most of my life.

"She came to see Mr. Richman"

I recognized this voice. It was Mrs. Sabina's voice. Then the sound of water was heard
