Shanya's POV
Saturday 11:00 AM
"Hey Babe!" I shout as I walk out of the bedroom and make my way downstairs.
"Kitchen!" I hear Alex call out to me.
"I have to go home today." I say to him as I enter the kitchen and watch as he bites into an apple.
"Why's that Miss Cunningham?" He asks using my last name, oookkk then, interesting.
"Leah is having a hard time being alone and I feel bad leaving her for so long." I explain.
"Wah d fuck yuh a seh to me Shanya?" Ok his response isn't what I expected but I will not back down.
Leah is my best friend and the reason we moved in together is so that we can look out for each other. Someone tried to break in her house last year and she's still not over that.
"I said what I said Alex." I'm surprised how calm my voice came out.
"She's an adult Shanya, the house is secured she'll be fine, you promised to spend the weekend."
"Are you always this selfish?" I ask as I turn to leave.
"Shanya, don't you dare walk away from me, we're talking and that's childish."
Yuh know seh mi no appreciate dah Bredda yah tone though.
"Alex, I would like to go home please." I say mockingly.
"Shanya, find your own way please." he tells me imitating my tone.
We stand looking at each other, then I walk off and go through the front door.
I can't stand him; he's so fucking selfish. Leah needs me and he isn't even trying to understand. I'm such a bad friend, I know she gets anxious when she's alone and still I left her. She would have never done that to me.
I make my way down to the stream and sit under a nearby tree. If only Leah could drive, then she could come and get me. Maybe I should call a taxi, yes that's a good idea or find one of Alex's car keys and drive my damn self.
"Shanya." I hear his voice behind me, I refuse to look at him. Asshole!
"Look at me." he commands, I'm determined not to look at his ugly face. Well, I'm pretending that it's ugly.
"I'm sorry." I finally hear him say and I look up.
He stoops in front of me looking in my eyes.
"I didn't know about the attempted break in, I'm sorry." He says and I'm wondering how he even knows about it now.
"How do you know now?" I ask because I'm curious. Twenty minutes ago, he didn't know.
"I read a report." He states.
"How did you come by this report?" I want answers.
"I run a security company it's not hard to get this kind of information." He answers.
"Hmph!" I say looking away from him.
"You should have told me." He chastises.
"You didn't give me a chance, Sir!" I add the sir for dramatic effect.
He rolls his eyes "I've sent someone to the house to keep her company. I've spoken to her and she's expecting him."
"Him?" I query.
"Yes Shanya, I sent my best guy." he explains and stands up running his hand through his hair.
"If you want to go, I can drop you off." he tells me in a matter-a-fact way.
