"A duel. If I win, all of us can leave without harm. If you win, they still get to go home, but I'll stay and you can publicly execute me."
Travis coughed after he heard you say that. "No! You can't do that." His voice came out hoarse.
You didn't turn to look at him and stood your ground.
"What are the restrictions?" your father asked.
"No magic and you can't hurt anyone else. This is only between us."
"No magic, huh?" The King thought about the terms. "Fine, I agree to the duel."
You nodded. "Let's start now."
You went over to Travis. "Stay out of the way. No matter what happens, don't interfere."
"I can't do that Y/n." He grabbed your hands.
You pulled your hands away. "You have to. Watch Aphmau and keep her safe."
You went back over to your father. You grabbed a sword from one of the suits of armor that lined the wall. You also grabbed two more things and hid them. The King grabbed his own special sword.
You stood at least eight feet from him. You glared at him and raised your sword.
He made the first move and charged at you. You moved out of the way and swung your sword at him. He ducked out of the way and went back at you. He left a small cut on your arm that started bleeding. You winced.
As you were dueling your father with swords clashing, Travis made his way back to Aphmau. She had been completely silent up until that point.
"Travis! Are you okay?" she whispered.
"I'm fine but we need to get you out of here."
He started fumbling with the chains. He couldn't get them off, but then he remembered his magic. He carefully melted the chains and Aphmau was free.
"Come on." As Travis said that, guards burst through the door and went straight at him and Aphmau. "Dang it."
He threw a burst of magic at one group of guards and they got knocked to the ground. More started to show up.
Three, two, one . . .
Right when he hit one, two people appeared in front of him and Aphmau.
"Took you guys long enough," Travis said.
Lucinda scoffed. "There were a few complications getting here."
"I don't want to teleport anymore," Aaron said a bit dizzy and dazed.
"Aaron!" Aphmau exclaimed and ran toward him.
Aaron snapped out of it and opened his arms to Aphmau. She jumped into his arms and hugged him tight.
"This is such a sweet reunion. It really is, but right now there are people that are running this way trying to kill us," Lucinda smiled.
Aphmau dropped to the ground from the hug. "Right."
"Aaron, get Aphmau out of here. Lucinda and I will deal with the guards," Travis explained.
"Go to the portal I showed you," Lucinda commanded.
Aaron nodded and picked Aphmau back up.
He started running toward the exit. The guards were too focused on the magic users to bother with the escapees.
"You ready Lucy?" Travis asked with a smirk.
Lucinda scoffed. "What did I say about calling me Lucy?"
Travis laughed and focused his attention back on the guards. You were still fighting your father.
Both of you were littered with cuts, but none of them fatal. You hunched over slightly, breathing heavily trying to steady it. Your father was standing tall.
"You've had enough yet?" he asked pointing his sword at you.
You stood straight up and smirked. "I could do this all day." You put your hand behind your back and quickly threw out a knife you had hidden earlier.
The King didn't see it and it went into his arm. Then you grabbed the second one and threw it at his leg. He crumpled over in pain.
You walked over to him and grabbed his head and forced him to look at you.
"Why didn't you do that earlier?" he gritted his teeth in pain.
"It wouldn't have worked earlier. It's all about the timing and how easily you can trick people," you said as you started raising your sword at him.
"Tricking people is my specialty," he smirked and you felt a pain in your stomach. "Where do you think you got that skill from?"
You looked down and one of the knives you had thrown at him was driven into your stomach. You glared at him.
"You disgust me."
After saying that, you used your sword and killed him. You stabbed him where his heart should be and made sure he didn't have a pulse. You stood there staring at the corpse.
Travis and Lucinda had just finished dealing with the guards. Travis looked in your direction and saw a puddle of blood pooling at your feet.
"Y/n! Are you oka-"
He stopped when you fell to the ground. He ran over to you and laid you on your back. He gasped when he saw a knife sticking out of your stomach.
"Lucinda!" he cried out to her while he was holding your body. You were fading in and out of consciousness.
Lucinda looked over and saw you and Travis. She gasped and hurried over. "Wh- What happened?"
Travis's eyes were filling up with tears. "Her father."
Lucinda just stared at you, tears welling in her eyes as well. She kneeled down next to the both of you.
"Please Lucinda." Travis was crying. It was no longer his demon side. It was him, just him. "There must be something you can do."
Lucinda snapped out of it. She needed to be strong for your sake. In her time of studying the demon kind, she found some similarities between them and witches/warlocks. One thing specifically stood out to her.
"T-There might be something. But if we do this, you have to be committed. You can't go back."
Travis still had tears running down his face, but he was worried about what Lucinda had in mind. "What is it?"
". . .
Bonding."
