~Four Days Until The Calling Is Over~
~Y/n's Demon's POV~
After everyone found out I was a demon witch. I was treated slightly different, everyone seemed a little more scared of me but at the same time everyone had a little hatred in their eyes.
Maybe that's a good thing, to be feared and hated. Maybe I could be the Demon Queen, just me ruling. I'm not even sure why I'd want to be queen. I'd have to leave home and stay in the Nether, I don't want to do that.
The King said I should get a room in the castle because I'm 'important' and 'special' to his plan or whatever. I mean it had a pretty nice view of the village, I would also only be here for about four more days.
I then heard a knock at the door. I turned from looking out the window and headed toward the door. I opened the door and saw someone that looked somewhat familiar
"Hello, I'm Travis and I'll be your guard while you're here," a purple eyed gentlemen formally introduced himself as he bowed.
"Oh! I don't think I'll need a guard. I'm capable of protecting myself," I responded avoiding telling him my name.
"The King insisted."
I sighed annoyed, "Well then, I guess I don't have much of a choice do I?"
He looked up at me, "No, not really."
"Fine. I guess you're my guard now, also I've been wondering . . . what's the point of The 'Calling'?"
"The point of The Calling is that the Demon King chooses a new second-in-command. For the past 20 years my father has been the second-in-command."
"How is this decided? You have almost two million demons that exist, how is The Demon King supposed to choose one out of two million?"
"That, I'm not sure but when you're chosen, you have to stay in the Nether for all of those 20 years."
"That seems dreadfully boring. What does he do?" I asked.
"I think he helps maintain and keeps thing under control when The Demon King isn't around."
"That's it?" I scoffed.
"Yeah, kinda," Travis said not caring.
"What else is there to do around here?" I questioned looking out of the balcony of my room. The view was mostly fiery and lava-y, not much to see.
"Uh, I'm not totally sure. I don't come to the Nether too often."
"Actually, I need to practice my spells so can you, you know, get out? " I asked sweetly but annoyed.
"Fine, but I hope to see you more often," he winked then left.
I sat at the dark oak wood desk and sighed.
Travis's head popped in the doorway. "Actually," he started. I groaned.
"I WILL see you more often because I'm your guard," he finished.
"No you're not," I yelled as he closed the door. I totally contradicted my earlier statement.
"Now where was I?" I mumbled to myself. "Wait, what spells do I need?"
I already learned a healing spell. I already know the teleportation spell. What else?
I found a book on the shelf in my room. I read what it said on the side. All About Witches.
Why would any demon need to know about witches? Demon witches might be powerful, but demons and witches HATE each other, I'm expecting to be executed soon . . . or better yet secretly murdered!
I started to open the book until I found a thin black ribbon in between some of the pages. I opened to that spot.
"Witches Weaknesses . . . why is there an entire section written about witches weaknesses?!" I exclaimed. "Whoever was reading this book wanted to know my kinds' weaknesses."
I put the book back on the shelf and looked at the other books to see if I could find anything else suspicious. "All About Demons by the same author who wrote the witch book, How to Build in the Nether, Potions, Potions, and More Potions!, yada, yada, yada . . ." I trailed off until one title caught my attention. "Raising Your Demon Child. What is with that title?" I questioned after reading the book title.
After 5 more minutes of looking through weird books I found a suspicious looking book in the middle of the very top shelf. I looked at it weird and knew I couldn't reach it, so I used my magic.
"Levitateia!" I shouted. I slowly started levitating up to the top shelf, I grabbed the book and floated down. "I did a new spell without studying. How come I just need to add -ia or -io to the end of a word and it happens?" I pondered. I pushed my thoughts aside and set the book on the desk. I flipped through the book.
The format was set up like a journal/diary more than a book. It had weird writing, not illegible handwriting, different language writing? It was a bunch a symbols, sometimes with sketches and drawings next to the writing.
Looks like a mystery, one that I'm ready to solve. Obviously this was written so no one else could understand, other than the author. Maybe it was to hide secrets. Whatever this is I'm going to decode it, I want the juicy secrets!
I heard the door squeak open behind me. I shoved the book into the desk drawer and slowly turned around.
