Pain overtook my body before I opened my eyes. It physically hurt my face to open my eyes. I've been here before but it never sucks any less. As I took in my surroundings I saw that I was laying on a bed in a makeshift tent. I slowly sat up and listened. I heard noise around me but it was all just various bangs and people talking.

I got to my feet and fell on my face. I used way too much energy in that series of fights. I haven't been this drained ever. I barely got to my hands and knees when I heard her voice.

"Jesse!" Sigrun came to my side. I looked at her expecting injuries.... What I saw was a person in perfect health.

I looked at her arm, it was healed completely! Then a piece fell into place. Her wings were wrapped around that arm and were glowing.... Healing magic. She used that same arm to place the sword in my hand and close it with the other.

"Y-your arm? It's-" I stammered.

"I'm a Valkyrie. We are taught magic from birth. Our mother was raised by the supreme witch before the devastation of delfed. Now just allow my mother to cast a spell on you. It'll steady you." She sounded worried. She helped me to my feet. I didn't even notice the queen was present.

She walked up to us. She was looking better then the bloody mess I left her in. If it didn't hurt so bad I would still care about how awkward this is. She held out her hand and a purple glow came over her hand. The purple glow reached out to me.

"I thank you Jesse. You did as I instructed. The three way battle resulted in the enemy being pushed back." The glow stopped.

I felt better. Enough to stand. Fighting would be tough but I can at least swarm if I needed to.

"I don't know if you got briefed or if you remember... Soki-" her face turned to a frown.

"I remember what happened" she said sternly.

"We only pushed him back after one strike. It reacted-"

"Like it had never felt pain before." Sigrun finished my sentence.

"Yes it seemed like it didnt like it very much. I'll be sure it hates the second time even more." She turned and walked out of the tent. Sigrun had tears in her eyes. There was something majorly wrong.

"What? Did something else happen?" Her deeper emotions were boiling to the surface. The tears forced their way through her closed eyes.

"Mori.... Succumbed to his injuries." She burst into a fitful sob into my chest.

"Oh god... I'm so sorry." I wrapped my arms around her as she continued to cry.

"Can I tell you something? I think it'll help you feel better. At least for the moment." She hugged me tighter.

"Please" her voice was weak. Begging for a semblance of light. She'd just lost both her brothers. Ive lost friends who felt like brothers so maybe I understand her pain more then I'm willing to give credit for.

"I've seen thousand's of universe's. Seen people do things for people who couldn't fight for themselves. Some where fighting is held above all, some that are impossible, they don't follow the same laws of physics that most do. Some of them are just filled with impossible geometric shapes and element combinations that can't exist anywhere else." She stopped crying and was now looking at me. I wiped a tear from her cheek.

"On the long list of people that I will never forget their sacrifice for people that they love and those who need protecting. Soki and Mori are both held in the highest honor to me. I believe that counts for something, and stands to the men they were. I won't be here forever but I want you to know that." I smiled as I finished.
