The town of Thatcher, Texas was a small town bordered by patchy forests. It's population was about 5 thousand people. It was the type of town that the adults actually had a stake in the local school drama. Every major event in town was well known by the next week.

It was after the fourth of July that that the farmers in the area would report their livestock missing or mutilated. This normally wasn't out of the ordinary. Sometimes livestock wanders off, and there's any number of animals that could take them out. What was so strange was the weird holes that were poked in the ground around the animals and area. It was so strange that even the sheriff couldn't make head or tales of it.

After a couple days the events became frequent. Instead of waking up in the morning to find their cows and pigs dead, they'd go to do any other task on the farm and find one that was alive ten minutes ago. The next day all the farmers were missing.

The town was a melting pot of anger, fear, and idiocy. In two nights their was going to be an event that hadn't occurred in millions of years. Over time the area got smaller and smaller. Nobody knew that something had awakened in Thatcher.

In one night, a team of officers, two groups of teenagers, several pets, and a Hitchhiker resting in town, all went missing.

The town exploded the next day. They all gathered hunting party equipment and stockpiled weapons and ammo. They weren't going down without a fight. Because all the people were in town getting ready, nobody went missing.

Night fell and over 800 people spread into the surrounding areas. After two hours of searching...

The blood moon began

-the following in a transcription of a recorded video chat from *data redacted* on March 18th 2056-

*Recording begins mid conversation*

"-crazy here ---- you don't understand! Start recording this right now!" Victim demands.

"I already started bro calm down." Caller says trying to reassure the victim.

*Victim quietly sneaks to a window and flips the camera oh the phone to show the outside*

*The town is in a state of ruin. Fires are spreading and Shadowy figures pick people apart on the streets. Screams are heard from outside*

"See man... I don't know what the fuck is happening here but you need to tell people! I think I'm one of the only ones who haven't been seen at all yet. These things are everywhere, I don't... Oh God..." The victim began sobbing.

*A loud crash is heard from within the house*

*victim quickly and quietly sneaks into his closet with a handgun.*

"I love you man... I'm sorry." The victim whispered before muting the sound coming from his phone. The victim could no longer here his friends words.

*The sounds of crashing and banging spread upstairs as the victim placed the phone in the corner allowing for a view of the room when the door opened*

*The victim screamed and discharged his firearm before a large tentacle mass ripped his arm off before throwing him across the room.*

*Victim screams and cries out as the tentacle mass descended upon the victim*

*The creature mauls and eats the parts of the man's body for several minutes before the creature noticed the phone.*

*Creature gets closer to the camera revealing it's form in the phone screen light.*

The creatures face is mostly a mouth filled with jagged teeth. It has two eyes on the side of its main body that stick out and can be rotated at seemingly any angle. Its main body was made of a black rotted flesh that had maggots and worms crawling through its crevices.

*The creature let out a loud roar and lunged towards the phone, breaking it and disconnecting the call.*

*The caller can be heard in the background crying and breaking things in their home for several minutes after*

Addendum:

While the events in Thatcher Texas were by every means unexplainable, we aren't entirely sure what classifies as "unexplainable" anymore.

As far as the state and federal government is concerned, thatcher Texas never existed. A large campaign to cover these events was highly successful.

Three years after that fateful night, there was a rare anomaly found in astrological data related to the moon. On March 18th there was a large solar flare that released a large amount of radiation, a radiation never before discovered was released. This radiation was carried via light particles to the lunar surface where a small amount was directed directly to North America.

The odds of another blood moon occurring in human history is unlikely.
