protecting Sophia part 12

"Well I guess that's that then." TJ said Taking his cowboy hat off.

"Reaps you idiotic bastard!" Queen shouted

"Is he really gone?" I said backing away.

The Night air was cold. I could hear bugs and frogs buzzing and chirping around us. I looked around and saw we were in another Forest. I could see several sets of eye watching us in the distance.

"TJ did you learn any teleportation magic since I last saw you?" Queen asked frantically.

TJ put his hat back on, Pulled out a cigarette that lit on it own, pulled a drag, and then said:

"Ain't no such thing as teleportation magic darlin. Goes against the natural code of magic. Only reason bue can do it is because his abilities aren't magic. We've talked long about it and the only thing we can figure is that he deals with some primordial force that registers above magic on a cosmic scale." He said as he continued to smoke, one hand on his belt.

"Why has he never talked about this?" She said putting her hands up.

"Because admittin your body's probably invaded by something that registers above the mystical energies generated by a fuckin planet, tends to scare some folk." He said looking around. He got a weird look and then turned to me.

"This one got any powers?" He said tossing his cigarette.

"No she's just a girl. We need to get her to her father. The organizations attacked us twice now, and they've almost killed me and reaps once each." She said stepping closer.

"Hmm, well I know where we are and I can see J's Angle. It no place for someone without powers." He said holding his hand out.

He started to talk in a strange language, as he did his hand glowed orange and then I got an Orange glow around me. I saw runes start to appear over my body.

"Alright are you ready?" The old man asked me as the runes stopped appearing.

"R-ready for what?" I asked unsure of what was happening.

"The painful part." He said as he closed his fist and chanted again!

My whole body felt like it was on fire! I cried and screamed but I couldn't move. I felt like all my muscles were screaming out in pain from exhaustion! My lungs felt like they would explode from the pressure being built up! Finally it felt like I was going to pass out but then... It stopped.

I caught my breath and saw the runes glowing purple on my skin. I looked up to see the shocked faces of queen and TJ. I looked down to see the runes absorb into my skin. I looked back up in confusion and fear.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST DO TO ME?!" I shouted as tears started to roll down my cheek's.

Queen knelt down and hugged me. She wiped the tears from my eyes and reassured me it was alright.

"Sorry I had to spring it on you like that kid. Kids don't react well when they know pains involved. I've found it works better if they don't know and then they get better when they learn what that spell does." TJ said kneeling down as well.

"Wh-what does it do?" I said sniffling

"Taps your latent magical potential. Congrats kid. You're a magic user now. Normally the color of the runes tells me if you're a witch (red) or a sorceress (blue)." He said

"But her runes turned purple. What does that mean?" Queen asked giving me another hug.

"It isn't well known. I've never seen it myself but sometimes purple runes are mentioned in dark arcane ritualistic spell binding books. The people who are said to have weiled those runes had strange abilities. It's debated if their favored by a powerful dark force, they contain an astronomical amount of magic inside them, or... They're connected to the power of death itself." He said as queen got me to my feet.

That didn't make me feel better.

"How do I use my magic?" I asked wiping my nose.

"Think of what you want to do and saw the magic words." He said turning and starting to walk.

"What magic words?" I said even more confused.

"I don't know kid. Ya spells are ya own. Mine are mine." He said pulling another cigarette.

"Magic doesn't have a set way to use it Sophia. You can probably do way more then you think. And given that we don't know what to suggest to you, you'll have to discover it for yourself."

"Wait what's tj then?" I asked

"I'm a contractor of sorts. I make deals with powerful entities to give me some of their power. Comes with all sorts of neat tricks. I've got more powers then the capes and tights crews in the comics!" He said that and laughed loud.

Then he stopped. He turned back to us and said:

"She's seen us."

Me and queen looked at eachother. He walked over and held his hands up. And shouted a word in a different weird language.

A yellow dome of light formed over us. As it closed a giant snake burst from the ground! It was so massive that it quickly swallowed us whole! The whole time the ground around us in the bubble didn't move. I could tell that without the bubble we'd be ground to dust.

Finally we broke into a massive open area. As we landed safely we walked into a small living area. Was someone living in this creature? We walked through a door and into a large home.

"Mistress gora!" TJ shouted and suddenly there was a very old looking woman standing in front of me.

I looked up at her old wrinkled face as she stared down at me.

"You bring the destroyer into my home TJ?!" She said in a shrill voice.

I looked over to queen and TJ. They both had the same look of confusion that I did.

"Uhhh... Destroyer? She's a kid. I just unlocked her magics a moment ago." He said confused.

"YOU UNLOCKED HER MAGICS?! YOU FOOL! YOUVE DOOMED US ALL!" She shouted as she backhanded me across the face!

I flew back and slid into a table... I looked up to see her freeze TJ and queen in place. She walked over to me and I held my hand out, and said a magic word that popped into my head!

"SVERÐ!"

In a flash of light I saw a sword appear in my hand and shoot out through the old woman's shoulder! She screamed and backed away. I held the sword as it faded away. I looked back up at the woman and got to my feet.

"Please... I don't want to fight." I said as another word popped into my head.

"Takmarkanir"

Vines shot up through the ground making the beast we were inside of quake and call out. They wrapped bher up and restricted her movements completely.

I looked at queen and TJ and said the final word that was in my head.

"eyða" I said as they both gained movement again as the ice broke off them.

"Destroyer! I will kill the destroyer!" She shouted.

"Well that didn't go as I thought it would." TJ said stepping up to her.

"Now. If your fugly ass is ready to sit down and talk like proper people then we can get down to the information we need. If not, I put one between your fucking eyes!" He said pulling his handgun.

The woman gritted her teeth, struggled to get her head to the gun, and then said:

"You don't have the balls!"
