"really! That's so cool!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah I was a bit obsessed with them. It got me my powers though." Queen said sipping her wine.

I sipped my root beer as well.

"So tell me again. How did the goddess Hera know you were there?" I asked starting up at the statue of the goddess.

"Okay. So I was obsessed with the amazons. I wanted to study the lore behind them. Alot of media portrayed them as brutal warriors but they were more like honorable mercenaries. They worshiped the goddess Hera and the goddess Athena." She explained again.

"And because of what happened in that temple?"

"I was basically made into wonder woman." She said sipping her wine again.

I was about to ask another question when someone slumped to the ground in front of the table. Queen was up in-between us in a second. I looked up at her and saw the horror on her face. I looked back down to see it was the man! He was covered in blood and he looked really hurt!

"Queen... I need help... Please" he said before he passed out.

...

The Reaper opened his eyes. He took a moment to remember what had happened. The memories flowed in and he chuckled. He pulled a cigarette and lit it with infs powers. He exhaled and slowly sat up. He looked around the room and saw that he was alone.

However when he looked to his left at the side of his bed, he saw Sophia. She had her head laid on the side of his bed while she sat in a chair. She was fast asleep.

That girl...

Is this trust?

The reaper slowly got up and ignored the pain and walked to the opposite side of the bed. He slowly picked the girl up and placed her in the bed under the covers. She didn't wake up.

The reaper stepped back and watched for a second. Normally he'd be having monologue in his head. But in this moment his head one had one voice in it, His own.

"She stayed there the entire time you were out." Queen said from the doorway.

The reaper didn't say anything. That little tidbit sat in his mind for a moment.

"Come on. Have a drink and relax." She said turning out of the doorway.

The reaper explained the fight over the course of a bottle of Scotch.

"Wow so you wiped out the majority of an operation task force? That's insane reaps." Queen said chuckling.

"Yeah it wasn't easy. It took all my power to do it. That was the closest I've come to dying yet. If I hadn't used the infinite death stare then I'd have lost myself in my own power." The reaper said as he poured another glass.

"You're okay with all this?" Queen asked with the glass to her lips.

"Okay with what"? Reaper asked taking a drink.

"Fighting for something other then to keep the rage at bay?" Queen Said keeping her eyes on his face.

The shadow fell over his eyes from his fedora as he looked down.

"My whole life here has been nothing but conflict. Even when I was happy I felt something baas wrong. Something was always happening."

"When were you happy?" She asked finishing her glass.

The reaper felt something inside him

"When I had something pure to believe in." Reaper said looking at queen.

"My whole life except for when I was with you... I've never had anything worth believing in. You made me want to be better. You made me feel like I wasn't human Garbage. The killing, the drinking, my mental state. Everything wrong with me you excepted without reason." The reaper Slammed back his glass.

He felt something inside again.

"And now... You're helping me with this. I'd be liar if I said I'm conflicted but I feel I have to do this. My only regret is that the girl has to deal with a protector that can't believe in anything..."

He was staring at the floor.

"After this past fight I doubt I can keep her safe. How am I supposed to save a girl when I can't even keep the happy things in my life. Maybe she'd be better with someone else on this job but she has me and that all there is. I just can't-" the reaper stopped.

He touched his cheek and pulled his fingers back... He was crying.

"It's been years..." He said

"Hey!" Queen said putting her hand on his knee. He looked up to her eyes.

"You're more then enough. You've saved my life so many times, you aren't perfect. So what?! Nobodies perfect. There's one thing I've seen myself is that when you do have something bto fight for... You fight like a wounded, hungry, cornered animal." She said sliding closer on the couch to him.

"If you need something to believe in, then believe in that girl. You know what she told me?" The reaper looked at her again.

"She trusts you. You make her feel safe, even if she does find you a bit creepy." She said wiping the tears from his cheeks.

"All you need to do... Is have trust in her. Trust in her and your real power will always rage out when you need it the most."

A long moment passed with them staring at eachother.

Soon they were locked at the lips...
