(A bit earlier, Narrator's POV)

Everyone was waiting for the signal. Blake and Yang had gone to the tower to cut the communications.

"Alright guys, this is it." Ruby tells them. "Blake you're up." Ruby tells her via the earpiece, but she got no response.

"Is something wrong?" Emerald asks her.

"Blake doesn't answer." Ruby answers her.

"I'll go look." Emerald responds by getting on Night's motorcycle and heading to the tower. The young woman rushed into the forest trying to contact her faunus friend, who did not answer.

"Come on, what the hell is going on?" The young woman wondered. Suddenly, she heard a strange noise coming from a bush nearby. She stopped the motorcycle and looked around before drawing her left hand gun.

"Who's there?" She asked. No answer. She sighed before putting her gun away and starting again. A few dozen meters away, she hears a strange noise before seeing a white mass running towards her.

"Shit!" She yells as she tries to dodge the mace by turning to the left. But the mace hits her, creating a sort of explosion and releasing white smoke. The young woman falls to the ground as the bike slides across the ground before hitting a tree, damaging it further.

The young woman lay on the ground, writhing in pain as she clutched her right arm.

"My arm..." She moans.

"Oops... I think I came on a little too strong." Said a familiar voice in a falsely innocent tone. Emerald looked at the white smoke before seeing an old friend come out of it.

"Mercury..." Emerald groaned as the young man approached her.

"You know, what happened at Haven wasn't very nice, don't you agree?" Mercury says to the young woman in a bitter tone. Emerald grabs her revolver before the murderer slams it into her wrist, sending her weapon flying, causing the young woman to scream.

"If you don't want me to break your other arm, stand still." Mercury threatens her.

"You may pay for what you do..." Emerald warns as she backs away.

"And you will pay for your betrayal." Mercury tells her.

"You don't know what happened. You don't have a clue what made me make this decision. But you don't care, just like Cinder didn't care about us." Emerald tells him.

"You just didn't belong with Salem. I, on the other hand, feel that I belong with her." The young assassin told her coldly.

"Cinder killed my parents! And she hid it from me for three years!" Emerald defended herself.

"Do you really think I was going to continue working with her!? After what she put me through and what she made me do!? I almost killed my brother, when he was just trying to show me the truth! And he showed it to me, even though it was hurtful!" The young woman growls under Mercury's icy gaze.

"And not only the truth hurts." Mercury told her coldly before crushing Emerald's left leg, which screamed in pain.

"I trusted you! I was there to protect you! And this is how you repay me!?" Mercury yells at her.

"Leave Salem... You don't know what she really intends to do..." Emerald asks him.

"Like I'm going to obey you." Mercury growls at her before lifting his foot, ready to break the young woman's leg. Suddenly, a cable of smoke from a tree grabs the young man by the neck, choking him. The young man moves back three steps, under the surprised look of Emerald.
