Madalyn and I've been hanging out more now but she always invite Jessica. I don't mind most of the time but sometimes I would like for it to just be us. I think they even go out without me sometimes. I don't sweat it that much to be honest, I've been doing some college essays and research. Madalyn and I were supposed to do it together but she still wasn't here. So I called her:

"Madalyn where are you?"

"Oh I'm so sorry Bailey.... (lauhing) Jessie and I got caught up in something. I'll see if I can catch up with you later."

"Are you serious right now? These college essays mean the world to the both of us and we need to get started if we're going to college this fall so come over."

"No they mean the world to you Bailey... I don't even wanna take college that serious right now....It's the summer time I wanna hang out and have fun."

"Hanging out and having fun got you kidnapped like a month ago. Do you need a reality check?"

"No thanks, but you could use one!" She said laughing and hanging up.

I didn't know who Maddie was becoming but I certainly know that it was because of Jessica. I decided to do the essays myself and finish before 6 oclock so I wouldn't be late for Jeremy.

"Where are you heading?" Alan asked me as I walked down the stairs.

"How could you tell?" I ask

"You don't dress up for anything....So when you do....It's got to be special."

"Why aren't you out?"

"Every since I told dad I was gay, I can't go over to Wayne's house or even out of the house for that matter."

"Dad sucks right now. I'll talk to him." I headed to the living room where he was sipping on coffee.

"Dad isn't it a little to late to be drinking coffee?"

"Isn't it a little to late for you to be going out?"

"It's 6 o'clock and I'm 18 so no. But what about Alan?"

"What about him?"

"Why won't you let him go over to his friends house?"

"You know why...."

"Dad you can't be like this toward your own son. Since when did you become homophobic?"

"I.....Don't know.....I guess after finding out that my son is gay made me see.....how I felt."

"That isn't fair! He shouldn't have to put his life on hold because his shallow father can't agree with what he likes."

"Shallow.....I'm shallow now?"

"Yes...You need to learn to look past the negative and look at the positive....Alan is a awesome teenage boy and he deserves everything. Even your acceptance."

"So you do think it's negative?"

".......Do you think it was easy for him to tell you? Do you think he's happy with how he feels?"

"He chose it Bailey."

"You can't choose who you fall in love with. You can't choose what you like or who you like. Did you choose to love mom? Or did you just do it because you didn't want society to treat you how you're treating your own son?"

"How am I treating him Bailey?"

"Like he's disgusting or someone who should be imprisoned in his room because he's gay!"

"..........Weren't you going somewhere?" He asked quickly trying to change the subject.

"No I am going to sit right here on this couch until you let Alan grow up and be himself."
