"She hits like ecstasy."

MARINETTE
I misjudged what training with Kagami would be like. She seemed so intense, so serious about this. I feel like I couldn't make a mistake.
But being around her was just so...exhilarating.
Not drama, but not knowing her next move. Like I was always on edge to respond to her antics.
So in all, this was going to be fun.
The slamming of locker doors shutting rang in my ears as I stuffed my bag full with heavy notebooks.
Kagami was nowhere to be seen, and at the end of the day, she's usually the first one there.
But not today.
I debated with myself if I should ask her whereabouts, but that might make me seem like I care.
I don't, but maybe something happened?
I start to slowly pack my bags, waiting for the sight of the familiar girl.
Minutes go by and everyone leaves the locker room, leaving just me.
I huff and pull up Kagami's contact.
[From: Marinette <3]
did u leave school or sum?No answer.
I sit there for a moment and think.
Should I take her her books? No, she'll think I'm trying to be friends. But if she misses her homework, she won't be able to train me.
With that thought, I turn over her lock to reveal her locker code, open it, grab her books and carry them in my hands.
Leaving the school, I try to remember the direction to her house. I do remember how short of the drive it was.
Following my memory, I walk all the way till I'm faced against her gate.
I search for a buzzer, then see one similar to Adriens.
Why is everyone in my life rich as hell?
I press it for a solid 5 seconds.
"Gate 1 open," an automatic voice says through the buzzer speaker.
The gates creak open and I happily hop through.
In front of me sits the same house I visited last time. This time, no vehicle.
She must not be home.
Looking around the property, I try to see any form of life, but nothing shows.
I shrug, then place the books by the door.
Just before I hit the tar platform the house sits on, a voice whispers my name.
"Marinette! Over here!"
Frantically looking for where the voice is coming from, I see Kagami, hiding behind the side of her house against the fence.
I pick the books up and walk over to her.
"Kagami? What's going on?" I whisper.
Kagami pulls me from out of sight and pushes me against the wall.
She anxiously looks around. "My mother has my family members over. She came to get me from school," she tells me, shaking slightly.
Worried a little bit, I hold Kagami still. "Why are you anxious?"
She takes a few deep breaths before bursting into tears.
"They're so scary, I can't be myself," she cries, wiping her tears.
I immediately hug her tightly, feeling compassion for the girl.
Kagami becomes stiff before falling into my arms.
"I'm sorry your family has made you feel that way," I whisper softly.
Kagami sniffs. "Why are you being so nice to me? I thought you hated me?" she asks, escaping my hug.
My heart beats rapidly, like I forgot I hated her. "Because no matter how much I hate you, nobody deserves to feel like they're not accepted," I smile.
Kagami stares at me, not saying anything.
"I brought you your books. Can't get behind on your work or else you can't train me," I grin slightly.
She takes a deep breath in to get her rhythmic breathes back in sync.
"Thank you. You still owe me $50 for Tuesday," she puts out her hand.
I roll my eyes and close her hand for her.
"Next time, sunshine."
