KAGAMI
Yes, I cried.

Yes, it was stupid.

Some part of me just couldn't comprehend how she could just ignore me.

Maybe it was my fault. Maybe I misinterpreted the signs.

The entire school day, I was hoping she remembered.

I didn't want to talk to her, but I did. I wanted to see her and ask her why.

But I knew why. She liked Adrien, not me.

We were enemies. Not even friends.

The next few months were still painful.

Every day, Marinette would flirt with Adrien.

Every training session felt the same. Emotionless and silent.

She paid me, but I truly never wanted her money.

I spent months falling for Marinette.

I spent my time thinking about a girl who wasn't interested in me.

The first week of December, Marinette and Adrien announced that they were dating.

I can't even begin to explain how painful that was.

Instead of being a group, 2 enemies and a love interest, I was the third wheel.

Marinette and I weren't enemies. We weren't anything.

Sometimes I would catch Marinette staring at me, and if I thought about it, she never really kissed Adrien.

Now, it was January 23rd, and nothing had changed for me since I kissed Marinette that one October night.

"Hey Kagami, Marinette and I are going to the movies tonight. Do you want to come with us?" Adrien says from behind me as we walk to the last class of the day.

No, I don't want to see you holding Marinette.

"I can't, I have to practice fencing," I lie.

"Marinette wants you to come," Adrien stands at the door as I walk in, waiting for me to answer.

I groan, knowing that that's an automatic yes on my part. "Fine. But you're buying me popcorn," I point at him, squinting.

"Deal," he smiles.

I wait at the bulky doors of the movie theatre.

Marinette had texted me beforehand telling me what movie we were watching.

My eyes explore the scene in front of me, as I had never been to a movie theatre.

Even though I was a third wheel, seeing Marinette laugh was the whole reason I came here.

A cream-coloured car pulls up with 2 people inside, Adrien driving and Marinette in the passenger seat.

Marinette steps out, wearing a long flower-patterned skirt paired with a brown sweater covering her pale skin. Every time I see her, she looks absolutely stunning.

Adrien doesn't deserve her.

"Hey Kagami," she calls out. With my nerves jumping up and down, I settle for a wave.

After ordering and receiving our popcorn, we sit in our seats. Marinette sits in between Adrien and I.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom," Adrien alerts, winking at Marinette.

Now with Adrien gone, Marinette looks at me.

I don't look back at her, knowing that if I do, I might do something stupid.

"Kagami, I want to talk to you after the movie. Can I come to your house after?" Marinette asks, throwing small pieces of popcorn into her mouth.

My heart does a cartwheel and I gulp down the butterflies. "Sure. Do you mean you and Adrien?"

Marinette chuckles. "No, just me."

Uh oh.
