KAGAMI
I knew she would tell Alya. It was going to get out that I slept with her, and Adrien will hate me forever, and Marinette's career would be over.Maybe I was paranoid, but what was I to do then? Marinette and Adrien are all I have.
I had decided to walk home from school that day, hoping Marinette was walking too, but she wasn't. Adrien had taken her to his house for "designing".
I stood at the gates of my house and took a deep breath. They open themselves, and I let myself in my house.
My mother sits at the table, waiting for me.
"Kagami, sit," she orders.
I gulp quietly and slowly take out a chair to sit in. "Hello mother," I mumble.
"Who was here the other night?" she asks with a strict tone.
My pulse heightens and my breathing quickens. "M-Marinette..." I whisper.
"What have I told you about people entering our home?" she stands up, giving a threatening vibe.
"I-I'm sorry mother it w-"
She huffs and guides herself to the kitchen. "One more chance, Kagami. One more chance."
I hum a reply and quietly exit to my room.
I collapse onto my bed and take a deep breath. I stare at the empty spot beside me where Marinette slept. I half smile at the memory, but try to shake off the feeling of regret.
I quickly change into a pair of black ripped jeans and plaid coat, and travel down the stairs that I placed at my window.
I tiptoe through the gate where Marinette went into the forest and walk the little path I made for myself through the light snow.
I climb up the treehouse and just sit there. Sit there in silence and think about her. Think about Adrien. Think about how I'm going to lose them both if he finds out.
No. Stop thinking about that.
My thoughts are suddenly interrupted by the sound of crunching snow and wood creaking.
I panic for a moment, until I see a familiar face.
"Thought I might find you here," Marinette says, climbing her way in.
She sits across from me as her eyes drift to the small treehouse.
"I remember when you kissed me here," she comments with a smile.
"I don't want to think about that."
She turns to me with a look of confusion and scooches closer to me. "Why?"
A vision of Adrien enters my mind, but I don't say so. "We weren't supposed to do that, Marinette," I shake my head.
"Do what, kiss?" she questions, keeping her eyes on me.
"No, Marinette. You know what I'm talking about," I lower my head, taking a deep breath.
She stares at me with conflicting emotions, but I knew she understood what I meant.
We sit in silence for a moment before she stands up. "I don't regret it, but I can't break up with Adrien. He's vital to my future."
"Don't you know how selfish you sound? You're going to fuck it up so terribly, your future won't even matter!" I raise my voice, standing up to her level.
"To you it doesn't," Marinette hisses, slowly stepping down the ladder.
"So what, you're just going to stay with him forever? You don't even love him Marinette!" I yell.
"Doesn't matter. I'm not breaking up with Adrien so if you have a problem with it, have a problem with it by yourself," and just like that, she disappears like that night in October.
